Title: Identify this WWII aircraft - an easy one......
Post by: Widewing on January 28, 2001, 11:48:00 AM
After throwing out two difficult to indentify aircraft, I figured 1t was time for an easy one. Can you identify the aircraft in the photo below?

By the way, every photo I post is from my collection and not scanned from a book.

Yes, this is a Grumman G-21 Goose. It was used by the U.S. Navy and Coast Guard. The British employed the Goose for aircrew rescue and anti-submarine patrol.

Actually, I recognized it because there had recently been a show on our RCMP's air division, and they had one - inherited from the old RCAF - until just recently when it was retired to a museum in Ottawa.

Cheers
