Any way to clean up the output map?
I dont know if its something I am doing wrong but ouch, this is hard on the eyes.
Should I make one from scratch?

Yeah, mine look like that too. A real bummer. I end up painting over them to clean em up, but it's a pain.

Yea, I can imagine...
I thought about using the terrain gndmap itself and just colorizing it.
-
That'd probably save time & keep it realistic looking.

That's essentially what I've done all these years for the SEA terrain clipboard maps... use the TYP (now grndtyp) file for the color and the exported elevation file for the 3D relief, composite them together in Photoshop.

PM to me the elevation bmp and I will give a try with blender.

Ill take a look, but you also normally get a better look if you set the time to 8:00 - 10:00 in the editor before making a map.
