I think a new four engine bomber needs to be put in. and it should be the one of the other 2 RAF $ engine bombers the Halifax. there was a lot more of them and once they got there radial engines and the D type vertical stabilizers she was fighting along side the lancaster and there was alot more of them. The halifax also was ablw to drop in special agents, supplies, and it was a glider tug for airborne assault troops.

hope this aircraft would be picked as a favourite for the game.

I'd say +1. A little under armed, but it seems all british bombers are like that.....
decent speed, but rather low celing. Couldn't use alt. as much of a deterent to attack....
-
It would add nothing to the game that the Lancaster does not already bring. It isn't that it has no place in AH, just that heavy bombers take a lot of work so their should be a reason to add one to justify that work. The holes in the planeset should be filled first before redundant things like the Halifax are added.
The best British bomber to add right now would be a Wellington B.Mk III, the British workhorse bomber of the early war.
-
Just for adding to the completion of the plane set, especially for the scenario boys, it sounds good.

My point is that you can use a Lancaster in any of those scenarios. It is interchangeable with the Lancaster. On the other hand there is nothing to use if you need an early war British bomber. The Boston Mk III, uncoupled from boost limitations, simply out runs the Bf109E or Bf110C. The largest need for a British bomber is the Wellington, a bomber that served the entire war and had more than 11,000 examples built.

Make it a challenge for the BUFFers....add the Hampden! :rock
btw.... :D

Well it won't fill a hole in the set, but it will give a faster alternative for hauling a lot of bombs....

About 25mph faster than the Lancaster if the Mk VI was chosen, about 20mph slower than the Lancaster if the Mk I is chosen. I don't think that is enough to justify it over a gap filler.

yeah, I know. I'm just saying I would add it if it didn't need to be coded....

Actually I've looked into the Wellington a tad. It was used as a bomber & a troop transport (not at the same time); so it could be the first a/c to reasonably allow a base capture in "attack" mode (give it attack & bomber mode choices). It would also make the GVers on base D wonder if it is going to bomb or drop troops. So while it would be nice to have a Soviet or Italian bomber 1st (please, STFU about the He-111), this bird actually could have game impact. Did you know it was also torpedo-capable?

If you ask me, It looks like a B-24 Liberator bomber.

It does, a little bit. Notice how the wings connect at the middle of the fuselage, unlike the B24.
-
it was desgined like that so the tractors that were carrying its massive bomb load would fit just like the lanc
-
nope nope aaaaand nope. i have already posted on the Halifax and as it turns out (OMFG!!?) we got the lancaster.
-
just like the wellington the halifax was able to do multiple missions
just look at these examples it did more than what the lanc could do. please
Hailfax B.II Series I (Special), SOE
Special version for Special Operations Executive (SOE) used to drop supplies over Europe. Nose armament and dorsal turret removed, the nose being faired over, as well as changes to the fuel went pipes and exhaust shrouds.
Halifax B.III
Main production variant, fitted with Bristol Hercules engines. B.III bombers were fitted with transparent nose dome with single machine gun, Boulton Paul dorsal turret with four guns and tail turret with four guns. Some B.IIIs had extended round wingtips.
Halifax A.III
Halifax B.III bombers converted into glider tug and paratroop transport aircraft.

I used the search and found that people before asked for multible players manning the guns on the bombers. Why did that get rejected? I mean in missions i see that as a possability, Especialy if its BUFF missions.
