DURING A RECENT PASSWORD AUDIT, IT WAS FOUND THAT A BLONDE WAS USING THE FOLLOWING PASSWORD:
MICKEYMINNIEPLUTOHUEYLOUIEDEW EYDONALDGOOFY
WHEN ASKED WHY SUCH A BIG PASSWORD, SHE SAID THAT IT HAD TO BE AT LEAST 8 CHARACTERS LONG.

There was an article on Google News a few days ago about how a phishing scam that contained 10,000 passwords had the password "123456" in there 103 times, and "password" in there 239 times. We are getting out of the blonde range and into the dyed blonde range.

Spend a day on /b/ and see how much damage they can do based on the stupid things people use for passwords. Sheesh.

I have trouble remembering my passwords sometimes, but still don't write them down, they contain numbers, caps, lower case & special characters... and they require changing every so often...which sucks. If it's so dang hard to gain access with the super-secret password, why change the dern thing?

Well, that's not a bad password.
-
It is: only one case, no special chars and no nums...tsk tsk.

I hear ya! We have to have the same thing for our main pswrd- upper/lower case, special characters, numbers, min of 8 char length and change it periodically. Thats for our main one. then I have a 4 digit pin thats tied to a keyfob that has 6 numbers that change every 60secs, then I have my SSO (single sighn on), Then another one for my laptop then another one for my email. They CAN NOT be the same, cant be anything I have used in the last 5yrs, and to top it all off we have this new security thing (forget the name) where they have us pick 10 questions from a list, record the answers and creat 2 questions ourselves. This is to ensure that once we use our pswrds the system will occasionally ask one off the questions as a challenge. If you answer wrong just ONCE your locked out until you call IT , prove your you, have your manager confirm it and THEN they will unlock your logon and grant you access.
fun stuff lol NOT!! one thing about Verizon ... they are beyond anal about security.

WilldCrd, I've got just about all the same... can't reuse a password if I've used it within X# of years, if you enter wrong password 3X IT dept must physically come to your office & give you access (and schedule you for retraining).
On top of that, they added 25 obnoxious security questions... all of which were preloaded... with multiple choice questions ~
like who is your favorite sports team ~ then give you four choices. I hate sports, how am I supposed to remember who I picked?
Or my favorite animal... but they didn't have cow/medium-rare as a choice?
I decided just to keep my login/pswrd written down & kept in my office so I don't ever get locked out, which I'm sure is a security violation.
