56FG/63FS "Fireball", still have a little of finessing to do around the dorsal. Everything there stretches odd.

Looks nice Copr. :aok
-
WOW! I like that one.
Anyone start a 62nd Green/Grey bird yet?
-
Looks great Copr. My only opinion is are you able to make the nose art a little bit more "vivid"? It seems that its really toned down and faint. Otherwise, looks great! :salute

need to sharpen the edges on the green text up top, and that color red in the R on the top left corner isnt the right shade for apr 45.

:rofl :bolt:

It kind of looks like your "Fire Ball" text is smaller than the picture shows.

The outer edge of a fire ball that is a lighter color should be a bit wider in the very front. Yours is a uniform width.
The tail of the fireball should flare up more than it does also.
The strip of red on the nose looks too dark aswell but it's a tough call.
-
Wow another beautiful skin. I wouldn't be surprised if the fireball noseart actually had more yellow included for the flame effect but it may not show through on the old B&W photo well. Just a suspicion, though - I have no proof to back it up.
You know if I were a pilot in WWII I think "Fireball" is the last name I'd put on my a/c. I think back then tho "fireball" had a different connotation-probably associated with speed more than anything.

IMO, lose the gun soot...
-
Heya Copr! I like it!
Only suggestions I'd have are to maybe "brighten" up the reds a hair to make the nose, fireball and the name stand out a little better (at least on my work monitor the text and image seem to be too close in luminosity to each other to stand out so I could be wrong on this one), the name itself looks a hair bigger (i.e. needs to be bigger), and shorten those gun soot trails a bit. Otherwise, :aok
=)

Thanks for all the great suggestions gents...I used everyones suggestions. For some reason the pic doesn't show the reds like in the game. The blue around the dorsal is a little wider than it should be, but I had to do it like that or else the round stretching made it look atrocious. But here it is...

Another thing I just noticed...
On the P-47, when the flaps are retracted, they fit flush up against the trailing edge of the wing skin, so the only transition should be a straight line, with no shading to simulate a rounded front edge of the flap. The aileron, on the other hand, should be shaded to simulate rounding, as you have it. I think the aileron shading is much too heavy.
Last, give us some different angles and bigger pictures so that we can see the details around the various parts of the plane.

tail of the flames still don't flare up enough.

Shadowing fixed, Bigger than 1680 by 1050?

The resolution doesn't matter as much as the size of the aircraft within the picture. Look at some of Fencer's pictures that he posts in his skins. Plus, need different angles to see the different parts of the plane.

Use "F3" (I think that's it) then "F8" then "Z" then the [ ] keys to zoom in and out and you can pan with the view keys or mouse.

here ya go

Odd, I swore I only uploaded 2 pictures...

I'd turn your panel lines down some, and your rivets a lot. On a painted airframe, the rivets are barely perceptible unless you're standing very close. The panel lines are more easily discernable, but only a little. You still have shading on the flaps. From what I tried to explain earlier, you wouldn't know there's a rounded edge on them unless the flaps are almost fully deployed.
-
Thanks for all the input Stoney and others...less shading less rivets. :old:
Now I read a lot of you talking about material, I'm assuming thats in the skin viewer. Do I need that when I submit skins?? I should have asked that a loooong time ago :(
-
Hey Nate, the panel lines still look about twice as dark as they should be, giving it a cartoony-fake look. I'm sure someone will stop in & tell ya the right opacity for them. This is just my opinion of course. Excellent looking skin bro! :rock

Yes you do. When you submitt a skin you need the basic BMP, a basic text descriptor, and the material file you want them to use when they build it, else they will use the default. That can be a problem on some skins when the default is all aluminum and yours might be cammoed.

Fixed, I also changed the tail color to more of a sky blue, its hard to tell the difference in AH, but I think its probably more acurate to the real life descriptions.
-
Another thing to remember is that when you're doing screen shots, make sure you have direct sun on the plane, or it can be hard to see the details you're trying to illustrate.

The command " .time 14 00 00 " sets the arena time to 2pm and it will not change. Likewise you can set it for 9am etc..
