I took off in a F4U-1A behind a Spit. Climbing out I saw a ME262 off to my right headed for the Spit. I give him a warning and he was able to avoid the 262. The 262 then made a wide high turn and came back on my 6. I turned into him (yeah I know, a HO) and when he got close I started shooting. Just as I saw my rounds starting to hit, I blew up. No surprise there. I have .50s, he's got 30mm. I immediately took off again looking for the 262 but I couldn't find him. The Spit had departed the area as well. So I sent the 262 pilot a PM asking where he was. He said I had shot off his rudder and he had gone down too. We talked for a little bit, saluted each other and went about our way.
But this got me to thinking. I think I should have been awarded the kill on the 262 because even though I went down first, in fact died, I still was the cause of his airplane being shot down. The system must track your kills and assists during your sortie and then awards them to you when you end your flight, so the info is there. They just don't do it if you die. I think it would make more sense than giving someone a "proxy" (although in this case no one was close enough to get one).
Anyway, that's all I have to say about that.

They just don't do it if you die.
And in my opinion, that's the way it should be.
Everything else is just a further encouragement for reck- & senseless HOing (No, I don't mean your specific case)

Agreed. It sucks but the consequences of implementing that I think far out way the rewards.

you were killed. game over.

Sorry, hate to say it, but if you want credit for killing the other guy, don't die. That means it's a really bad idea to HO a bird with 30mm cannons in the nose. :salute

I will not hesitate to HO Me262s, so I don't ding you for that. Last time I did it the Me262 pilot and myself were both awarded kills of each other simultaneously. We killed each other within the lag time to the server.
That said, I agree with the others that awarding kills of things after you die would encourage bad behavior.

HO him from 600 and then use your uber flaps to get out of da 30mms :devil

What i have problems with is when your on someones 6 the Ho someone in front of you and even though you have plastered them already, the tard that Hoed got the kill.

Since when does a 262 go down from losing a rudder?
-
Probably lost his whole fin... keep on hoing those 262s the dirty rats deserve it flying jets in our arena! :aok

Sure he meant Vertical Stabilizer or Fin, as stated above. :)

No one knows you got that 262, because you're dead and never came home.
