Soooooo...Things are great! still feeding about three times a day. on silversides and shrimp. I swear she does cool stuff that continues to fascinate me everyday. Contact happens at least twice a day. She loves it when I pet her between the eyes, its almost like you can hypnotize them. she also likes to crawl 1/2 out of the tank and play with my hand for a minute then she slides back in to the water for a minute then she crawls back out and grabs and pulls on my then slides back in, she'll do it for a good twenty minutes then free swim back to her den.
"OK, here I come, time to play!" -

Pretty interesting pet you have there Cptfish. Couple of questions for ya... How big do you think she will get? She looks like she has grown a lot in the time youve had her. How big is the tank she's in? And how long do they live?
-
Thats awesome man. :aok

Sh is six months old, and will live as much as 18 months but a year in normal.
I think she is about as big as she will get maybe a little larger. right now she has a 3" mantle and a 24" arm spread
The tank is 125 gal. (5'x2'x1.5')
-
Looks like the tank is now devoid of any fish. You move them or did she clear it for you.
Great pics and info by the way. Very interesting indeed.

She demands it! She loves human contact. She has toys she plays with but she loves to play with my hand the most. she crawls all over it, she'll grabs me a play tug-o-war. And sometimes she just sits there and lets my pet her. she likes to be scratched between the eyes.

very cool :aok

12-18 months only... wow for some reason I thought they lived a lot longer than that! Very cool pet Cptfish.

Here is a link to a story about a pet octopus from another site I frequent:

:rofl Awesome update Capt, glad to hear your 8-legged friend is doing so well. I hope she lives an unusually long life under your care.

Eatable?
-
You know able to be eated. :rofl
-
Eatable?
Not that I know of. The octopus that people eat are O.Vulgaris Legs is an O.Briareus
-
That's freakin sweet man!
-
She's just trying to lull you into a false sense of security until she gets big enough to take a crack at eating you.
Either that or she's fallen in love with you.
Either of which is equally horrifying.
-
Wow think about their kids. They could walk across the ceiling and crack stuff open with their beaks. :devil
-
Really a very interesting pet.
How do you keep her from climbing out and dropping on the floor?
-
there is an acrylic lid 1/2" the covers the top of the whole aqarium

She probably thinks your hand is a strange 5 legged octopus... or should it be pentapus?
Sweat pet. Octopuses are my second favorite animal after owls.

Thanks for the update. Brilliant stuff. Keep us informed!
