Title: CH Gear and Windows 7 - Sleep Problems
Post by: BigR on October 15, 2009, 04:38:09 PM
I was wondering if anyone has run into this.. I am running Windows7 RC build 7100 and I have been experiencing problems with CH gear not working after i bring my computer out of sleep mode. I have to unplug them from the computer and plug them back in and then they work. I have other game pads and sticks that dont have this problem. I went into sleep settings for win7 and turned off the USB sleep, but that didnt seem to help. I really like windows 7, and I would like to buy it but I was planning on using the RC until March, and then buying windows 7. If anyone has any experience with this, please let me know.

thanks.

I'm running Win7 and a full suite of CH gear and haven't run into this.  Do you use the CH Manager software?  Just wondering if it can see the sticks after it comes out of sleep mode.

BigR,

I'm using Win 7 64-bit and haven't had that problem at all.

I have my CH Stick, Throttle, and Pedals running with CH Control Manager.

I am running the same as mir is, have not had any problems at all...... I updated my Windows 7 RC1 Ultimate 64 bit to a newer version I was given from Technet(MSDN) which is an enterprise version of Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit..have not had any issues since I began beta testing it back in January.....

edit:  please note that I do not use any power saving features, I have everything set to always on..........

Tha bug existed in Vista, but I thought Windows 7 had it fixed.  Are you running an early release of Windows 7?

Its RC build 7100 with all the updates....I got it right when they released the public beta. Its not a huge deal...I am going to buy the retail version next week when it comes out.

I ran into this one last night.  Went AFK for a bit and when I came back the computer was in sleep mode.  After waking, Win7 no longer saw the sticks.  CHCM ran normally and appeared to download stick configs, but no stick inputs were noticed at all.  I just unplugged the hub they are are all on, plugged it back in, and they came right back.  Still a weird problem though.

Control Panel--> Power Options--> "Change plan settings" on selected plan--> Change advanced power settings--> USB--> USB Selective Suspend Settings--> Setting:Disabled

That will stop your USB's from going to sleep.

Win7 RC has trouble with sleep and some motherboards.  I have a Gigabyte MA74GM-S2 and AMD 7850 CPU and nothing works when waking so I don't use sleep.  The Windows 7 forums acknowledge the problem but don't seem to have a cure for Win 7 RC.  I hope they have it fixed for the commercial release.  :uhoh

I at one time had the same issues with Vista,  I finally found that going into my power options and setting the computer for high performance, was the answer.

Hope this helps

I just bought Win7 64bit Home so i am now running a fully patched retail release. I am experiencing the same problems as before. It probably is my motherboard as 633DH98 guessed. Its not a huge deal. I have them all hooked up to one hub, and before I put my computer to sleep, i just unplug it. When I want to play the game again, i just plug the usb wire back in. It doesn't seem to affect calibration at all.
