You're grounded!
No more B-25s for you, until you learn how to land them properly!!!!!
(I mean, it's not even upside down, or anything!)

That is um... impressive. :huh A sheep must have wandered on to the runway. :devil

Not to shabby, I will also submit this photo of what my uncle did to his B-25 one afternoon as further proof that I come by my plane wrecking skills naturally. :)

Anyone else notice the tail guns on that B25C?
-
Lots of B25c's were upgraded, so it was not unusual to tail guns on them

Anybody have the demotivational poster of that B-24? Something like "Trying hurts, so dont' do it" or something?

can't believe you typed all that together batfink........
So the crew died 70 years ago, big deal really,
it is a very big deal.....for them giving their lives in whatever capacity is what enables you to type your above quote and your below quote.........
regardless of however anyone might want to spin it........
Its a fraeking huge bomber, intact, standing on its nose. It is funny, just enjoy it out of context?
nothing more to say........ :-/
-
You realize this was one of three B-24's on a Training Flight?
Hmmm. I doubt that airplane crashed from flight into that position. Everything I've read was that this was a takeoff accident in which they didn't takeoff but overran end of runway.

It is a Documented Picture/Fact/Case/etc. You're thinking of another accident. The information I provided, was to this picture.

Same goes for me.

I've read something similar, that the plane was taxiing in after landing when the nose wheel collapsed, and its inertial momentum then caused it to flip up to said position. I really do not see a plane falling from the sky landing so intact, the physics just don't support that.
Still, I agree with Batfink and feel it was quite a Debbie Downer moment going into the detail how a crew died in a thread dedicated to cartoon pile-its that are known for crash landing and wrecking perfectly good airplanes.

they were kids.
-
Nevermind
-
Yes they were kids, though they did not ask for you to walk on eggshells around their history for ever....
If i was one of them i would probably get a laugh sitting on my cloud just seeing that pic again. They certainly would not want anyone to be harrased for making light fun of it.
I've given an opinion, I didnt mean to offend anyone. I'm out.
:salute

I like to compare our posting of pictures to the veterans shooting down the plane and not the man. Post all the crashes you want for entertainment but to ridicule a historical bomber's crew for not being able to land properly (more so when all of them died in the wreck) is pretty sad. Some of these veterans are still around, after all.
I had the pleasure to talk to a B17 test/combat pilot for a few weeks before his prostate/colon/bone cancer took him. I'll never forget the strange look he gave me when I told him about Airwarrior and the constant nonsense that occurred on a daily basis both in the game and on the forums. I'll also never forget the relief he expressed knowing that someone would remember what happend when I explained scenarios to him. He had an interest in taking part in a scenario but he died before the next one took place.
Don't ridicule someone's demise, karma has a way of biting you.

I said i was out but TC you are actualy dead right.
My choice of words was very bad, and disrespectfull though i failed to see it at the time, My appologies for that sirs.

To clarify on the B24 crash photo. It's a B24 of the 455th BG, 304th BW, 15th AF based near San Giovanni, Italy. It was a take off accident, that killed five men. Understand those B24s took off at weights that would not have been allowed in peacetime and it didn't always work. The war demanded it and overloaded with fuel and bombs lead to many of those kind of fatal wrecks.
I spent much of the 90s researching a crew from the 454th BG that was based there as well. They went down to flak in February 45 with 6 killed. It was eye opening to me dealing with the families of those killed after all these years. The pain hadn't gone away. Tears came quickly and the grief was intense. The surviving crew lived with some survivors guilt as well. In talking about it, the events were just yesterday for them.
I post lots of pictures here of broken 38s and other birds. I've always tried to make sure they're not from fatal crashes. I do think it is a reasonable line not to cross in terms of trying to be funny, because in the end, if you think for half a second, it isn't funny.

Indeed. There's a little bit more information on the incident here:

Bingo! A while back I got a book from my local library that showed a picture of a P38 crashing. Parts were flying everywhere and I was going to post it with a caption making fun of Dan about his landing, but after reading that the pilot died I thought it wouldn't be in good taste.

So... saying "lighten up francis" after posting a Far Side comic breaks rule 4 now????

I just happened to casually glance at this thread, noticing the INSANE number of skuzzified replies... I found myself laughing my arse off.
BTW, great B25 pics!

Yes. Much like the following would break a rule.
"You are a jerk, but I am a nice guy". Then complaining about the post being excised for saying "I am a nice guy".
What part of the following rule needs to be explained to you? I'll highlight the pertinent section for you.
"4- Flamebaiting, flaming, being abusing, being disrepectful, trolling, spamming or posting to incite or annoy is not allowed. If you cannot make a positive contribution to the thread, then just stay out of it."
