We need a convention for that, we do that every night!

Let's just say that there's 8 hours of flying to go this weekend (not counting dinner) and I only have about  1/4 of a bottle of scotch left. Good times...

What's the secret weapon this year?  I hope it's Imperial Walkers or Cylon Raiders (the cool ones from the '70s).

It's a Dr.I triplane, complete with underslung jet engine and dozens of rockets.

70's-style "psychedelic flames" paintwork and all.

Have a pic from one I shot down but I just get the dreaded "red X" when I try to post.

Why no late war arena available Saturday Oct 17, 2009?  Does anyone know?  I was flying in the Con Arena because that appeared to be a late war arena era but when flying against A1 all of a sudden it changes from Rook to Knight  to Bishop for no apparent reason.  Asking the question “does anyone know what’s happening in this arena?”  several responses that HiTech is controlling the arena, OK so what does that mean?  Controlling it how?  And more importantly why?  Have the rules changed?  I take it that all this occurred because of the Convention.  Do I get charged for today?  Most member of my squad bailed because we couldn’t figure out what the new rules were for this evening.  In the middle of trying to run Knight troops into Rook A1, the base becomes Knight A1 before any troops hit the map room and then in a flash changes to Bishop.  I don’t want to pay for this type of game play.  Why were no normal late war arena provided?

The force is very very weak in this one!  I'm sure somebody from the CON would be more than happy to sell this dude a Clue Rake.

It also would've been nice to fix the Orange arena so that it doesn't screw Bish and Knits and leave Rooks with the advantage. I have a sense of humor, but I don't see any humor in this.

People spend large amounts of money, drive and fly large distances to come to the AH con.
One of the very very few real perks for doing so, is the evil con mission. Ok, so for 3 hours the arena was disrupted.

Gee stuff happens.

You can either join into the spirit of the thing, or you can whine about it.

Guess who has more fun!

Skuzzy clearly posted that it was con night on the clipboard as you come into the arena. It also said if you are humor challenged you may want to pass this by. If you still don't get it, make plans to come to next years convention so you will. You can whine directly to all the HTC crew and challenge HiTech to a jello wrestling match. Won't change a thing but should be good for some youtube videos.

My only complaint was making it tot tuesday on a saturday. Con could be held in orange so they can have fun. We went to MW and it's ranks were swelled by the same fact.

Con goers were flying from one airfield in the entire arena. There was plenty of land to grab away from where we were. The DR1 MKXIII couldn't get that far with a 200mph cruise speed. If we pushed folks to MW then we expanded their horizons.

I used to fly MW alot till it was messed up. It was still tot tuesday on a saturday.

BTW.. you did not push anyone anywhere.... the correct term would be "ruined" LW. No problem with the con... but not having choice of LW arenas was the bad part. Folks expect tuesdays to be poor now so be it... but to mess up a weekend? Well that is my complaint. Can't make it any easier to understand.

It is interesting to me that only those who hate it say blanket statements like "everyone hates it," ect. I like Titanic Tuesday, mainly because of the ensuing GV fights. We had a MASSIVE fight south of V90 with little air interruption and nearly perfect terrain that lasted for hours, 20+ tanks to each side. I'm sure there would've been more if the Conners weren't grabbing attention at the time.

But, I'm sure not being a purest fighter jock makes me a "tot" too.

I prefer a choice.

From what I have read most prefer a choice.

Thank God there is only one day for TT. If it were popular it might be six days.

I agree with your assessment of folks wanting a choice but I do remember all the grief that HTC received when splitting the arenas and now we have grief about having one large arena for a few more days that only happens once a year.  I guess I'm just getting older (I'm already older than dirt anyways), yesterday I logged on and heard all the griefing about the arena still being screwed up and have seen it all over the message bases and from some of my own squaddies complaining about the CON arena still up.  I really just had to shake my head and wonder just what folks really expect for the small amount of money they spend to have the entertainment that we enjoy here.  I'm really kinda ashamed at the community we have in AH when they grief about those who spent lots of hard earned cash to go to the convention and received a trivial interruption in the expected enjoyment of those who couldn't or wouldn't attend.  I myself was one who complained about the splitting of the arenas and now I kinda like it.  I just gotta say that it's pretty petty for us to vitch about the little extra enjoyment that those who spent lots of cash to attend the convention received for just a frigging weekend.

All the Best...

Most people?? Where do you get your info from. Please post it for us all to consume.

Well opinions vary. Let's see... last year at con there was an announcement that later was determined it would take too much manpower. So there is a definite limitation in resources. When your a small outfit, any.... and I do mean ANY, draw on manpower is an important issue. That is something I'm sure HT has thought about any time some new idea hits the mill. Hopefully this one will not negatively impact our WWII aircraft enjoyment.

Seems so. Numbers are quite good on that day. And many, many players (like myself ;) ) do actually look forward to TT each week.
Of course you don't hear about them, because they are not complaining  :P

And we both know that popularity alone is not what HTC's decisions are based upon...see arena caps ;)

So now the complaints about TT maps and not the con? If it was in one of the LW arenas then there would of been complaints about not being able to get in and see the con mission.  Just ain't no pleasing all the folks.
