They were fun in DoA, though disappointing when killed.

Funny how nobody listens to what HTC tells us.
Sounds real cute and all........... But NO.
WWI dogfighting only. Read it over.
Let them get it up and running, work the bugs out and then after a year of cleaning it up, ask for silly stuff like WWI bombers.
Besides, in the early stages of the WWI weren't pilots throwing bombs out of the cockpit?
-
This is the wishlist forum corky. Nothing wrong with anyone expressing or
imagining things they would like to have added at some point .
-
I guess this is the WW1 equivalent of a B-29 thread? :D
-
As valid a point as it is......... It's like wishing for a tweek to the damage model of the X-Wing.

Do you mind showing me your HTC staff badge? Last I checked they didn't ask you to bark out at community members that this wish shouldn't be here.

Hi pot, I'm the kettle. It's nice to meet you. Were you going to add something?

Wasn't all Zepps... Gotha G5a...
Not that I want WWI bombers in the new arena... Just don't think they will serve any purpose...
Hell, they served no tangible purpose in the real war...

Really? The raids on the UK made by airships and aeroplanes led to RFC and RNAS squadrons being withdrawn from the Western front to fly Home Defence against them - and the unification of the RFC and RNAS into the RAF, the world's first dedicated air force separate from the Army and Navy. The RNAS's raids in Handley-Page 0/400s deep behind enemy lines kept the German troops awake when they badly needed sleep too . . .
The biggest killer in WW1 was artillery. If a combat flight sim is to make any pretence at reproducing the WW1 war in the air, it should include effective artillery bombardment and the ability of the two-seaters to direct that bombardment. The BE2c/e, RE8, Rumpler and Albatros C-series two-seaters that took the photos and directed the artillery fire were the primary targets for the lighter single-seater 'scouts' that evolved into the world's first fighters. Fighters then fought fighters so the two-seaters could do their work properly. The whole point of fighter aviation isn't to run up a cricket or baseball score, it's to gain and hold air superiority so the rest of the air force can do its job: in WW1 and in order of priority, photo recce, artillery observation, ground attack and strategic bombing.
Everyone enjoys the odd furball but it ain't the be-all-and-end-all of combat flight sims. The more variety, the better the sim.
Cheers!
