Operation Iceberg1
In this historic battle, Japan's IJN and IJA are thrown against both British Naval and American Naval and Army forces as they execute Operation Iceberg. The capture of Okinawa was part of a three-point plan the Americans had for winning the war in the Far East. Okinawa was to prove a bloody battle even by the standards of the war in the Far East but it was to be one of the major battles of World War Two.2

a few questions Mister Fork, Sir........ it says in the setup that ship down times are 1 Hour.....then it says CV's downtimes are maximum 12 hours......
is this a misprint? or is the CV downtime seperate from the rest of the taskgroup?
will AvsA staff be available for fixing the arena, if by chance some individuals come in and completely obliterate the allied CV's ?
looks like this could cause an unforseen situation if by chance a group of players on the axis side comes in and dogpiles the allied side before any opposition can log on in time to circumvent their efforts..... if the CV's are down for 12 hours .the allied side will have nothing to fly :-/
also, can you give us all an exact time of when this setup will be SET to GO?
Thank YOu for your time in setting this up for us all :salute
-
The allies have a dozen or so CV's, so the likelihood of someone obliterating them all is nil.
You may get some tard who may wish to pork the CV's, but they'll only have Ki-67's and shore batteries. It would take a dozen hours to sink all the CV's with either the shore battery or bomber and by that time, another re-appears.
The DOWNTIMES refer to field objects. Their downtimes (towns/field AA/hangars/fuel etc) will be 1 hour.

Thank You for the Clarification....... that is Great News
hopefully I am up and able to participate.......at least some
looking forward to it
I hope the Arena is setup to go when/if I get a chance to log on <S>

What time will this start?

It's up. :salute
A couple of minor changes:
1. Morning is now 5:45am, dusk is 6:45pm.
2. Change sides is set to 10 minutes.

I thought this was going to be up lastnight? Bunch of us went there and no one was in. Map was still the old terrain.
-
My mistake. The OLD way of doing setups was to do it late Thursday nite for Friday but I guess since I've been away, those keeners have been doing it late Wednesday NIGHT/early Thursday.
:noid
Anyway, it's a hoot, especially the ground war having LVT's vs M8's as it really was during Operation IceBerg. The Japanese had lost of lightly armed vehicles on the island which fought against the Marine's LVT's, Jugs and P-38's.

I've been able to get some time to play a couple of nights so far during this setup. Lots of new faces, some very enjoyable fights focused around either defending carriers or attempting base captures.
