Title: Wireless routers?

What would you recomend for a new wireless router that is very basic and works well?

My price range it about $40, and i would like to but it in a store if at all possible.

Any suggestions?

Asus WL-520GU, $45 retail, $35 after rebate from Newegg:

Why? It runs good firmware from the factory, is well built, and can run DD-WRT (or other open-source firmware replacements with way more features) when you decide you want to do more with it.

Or go with the old standby Linksys WRT54GL, which runs $55 at newegg.

we use TP-LINK's or TrendNet wireless routers for our customers they work really well and or low cost

I've been using my Linksys wireless router for 7 years now.  It hasn't failed me yet.

Linksys is all Ive ever used.

Means a lot to be able to call a number, even on Christmas, and actually get a live person to fix your issue. Best support in the business.

That and they've become pretty much the home/home office standard, meaning there's a wealth of your "average" geeks (like me :D) lurking the internet with enough knowledge to help out in most cases.

The only problem I have with Linksys is they had a great setup utility and now they have some scam utility you have to pay for. Some kind of program you have to buy. I dont know the full details because I havnt had to use any help materials, #1 setting up a network is pretty simply, #2, I just havnt had any problems in a year or two. So you might want to check it out before you buy.

And they arent the cheapest router hardware you can buy. So theres that. But overall Im happy with their products.

I've never used one of their utilities...more reassuring to set it up yourself.
