maybe they could work for Hitech!

Yeah this is kind of old news, really sucks...FSX will be the last :/
-
I'm sad about the news, that was my first taste of a flight sim ever on my friends old computer back in the middle east.
We would spent hours playing that thing, most fun was controlling the helicopter with a keyboard flying in the city.
Good times

It will re-emerge later... bet you on that! :old:

Or someone will fill the gap, like Cities XL did after SimCity became a child's toy.
-
They have started a new company of their own: http://www.cascadegamefoundry.com/ (http://www.cascadegamefoundry.com/)

CitiesXL?? They charge money for every little addon that should have been already in the salesversion! :furious
Imagine a popup-window in AcesHigh that will ask for 5 $ everytime you download a new skin...
-
I learned flight sims with the black-and-white version of MSFS on a 512k macintosh. It's too bad others will be denied the pleasure.
-
im kinda glad they got ride of flight sim there newest version had bad graphics and way more controls confusion then AH

Must be following Rise of Flight's business model....
-
I have no money whatsoever, so I haven't been able to try CitiesXL at all.
Didn't say they replaced it well... :D ...but they filled the gap of "City Simulator" when SimCity became PlopBuildingsOnGrass.

Not at all, the control surfaces, at least IMO, were quite close to the actual aircraft (other than actually having to change your mixture, and all the auto crud). Just gotta learn your controls, what they do, and how to do it. ;) Hardest thing for me to do in FSX was figure out how to control my ILS equipment in this beast... ;)

If you've got a good computer, FSX has amazing graphics!

My old dual core can't play it, partially the reason why I'm building a quad core and some kick arse components to boot.
-
it probably could spikes...
there is a quirk in FSX that for some reason even with a dual core, it will only run with 1. to fix it you have to manually go in and fix the main FSX.cfg. there was a whole page on one site that had everything you needed to know on how to get the performance up without buying new stuff. i really wish i could find it again, because i really want to fix it.
-
Flight17 I believe the fix was in SP2 or Acceleration and that should be all you need. Check the post by NickN on tuning (not that I listen to everything on that topic) as I believe he says so. As I recall SP2/Acceleration can feasibly use up to 32 cores but it may not have been quite that much (and not that that many cores will ever actually exist).
I have no idea what jay was trying to say but whatever it was failed to hit the mark.
-
SP2 was the worst thing i ever did for my game... it crippled me... had to uninstall the whole game a couple of times because of it.
-
Yes well some of the associated files are required for the winch program I use with sailplanes (I practice broken cables a lot) so even though I use Acceleration I have to install SP2 and then uninstall it and then install Acceleration. Until I started using True Image it would cost me a week of program tuning to get FSX setup and working right should the program get broken somehow.
