Title: Identify this naval aircraft
Post by: Widewing on February 01, 2001, 05:47:00 PM
The final production version of this aircraft began deliveries to the U.S. Navy in March of 1939. Fifty of these were diverted to France in 1940. At the time of the attack on Pearl Harbor, two squadrons of these biplanes were assigned to the carrier Hornet. Identify the aircraft.

B]

You're getting close. It did share its name and distinctive vertical stabilizer shape with the SB2C of WWII.

This is the Curtiss SBC-4 Helldiver. The example shown was serving with a Naval Reserve unit.
