If the rooks and bish (rainbow coallition agreement) actually fought each other the world would come to a screetching halt.
It's far easier for them to gang-bang a single opponent.

Looks like you got caught low and slow with your pants around your ankles...you could have taken out 2 of them and with some creative flying maybe got the rest to "killshooter" each other... :D

I don't know about the rest of you, but I don't need a fight to be completely even to have fun. However, when it starts to be one sided with 3-4 all targeting a single bandit (or vulching when there are airborne bandits), I go elsewhere, no matter the side that I'm on. Sometimes I log off completely. I haven't bothered to fly in the main arena for a while now because almost all the fights are one sided steam rolling, and there seems to only be a choice between being in the horde or getting hoarded.
What's fundamentally misunderstood is that if you like air combat, ganging/vulching is against your own self-interest, because it will cause the opposition to move elsewhere. The last time I was in the arena I complained at a guy who was vulching when there were enemy in the air to fight. Naturally, I got the "when you pay my $15" response, and within 30 seconds all of the enemy who had been fighting in the air were in Wirbelwinds: fight over.

Anaxogoras, why not just up from another base that isn't being ganged and vulch the vulchers? If you truly and I mean truly like air combat, you take the good with the bad, adapt and overcome.
It should be all about staying in the fight as long as possible and returning to base...logging off just because of a hoard or some other thing that is happening, that's just letting someone else dictate to you. Sure it's frustrating...but eventually people start working together and the tide turns...happens all the time.

I've done that in the past, but spending 15 minutes in idle climb-out and journey to the base isn't worth my time. Moreover, some of the aircraft I like to fly are hamstrung by the fuel multiplier.

Did the japs call off pearl harbor because it was vulching? Did the USA stop attacking japan after 1944 because it was a gangbang? Did they postpone the battle of the bulge until both sides was equal?
To me its just war if you dont like it fly from a different field or dont gang up or dont fly low and slow and get gang banged. Most of the time i get into those situations its because i didnt pay attention and they are all avoidable i think.
If i want a 1vs1 in a perfect environment i go to the DA and do a 1vs1 but what do i know I'm a knight.

1. True, quit whining when getting shot down.
2. Depends on where you were...in the rear with the gear or on the front with the grunts.

It is, and it's because of the war aspect...not one person here would pay $15 a month if it were any gamier (i.e. arcade stupid) than it is...it's the idea of realistic flight and simulated air combat that keeps you coming back. You wouldn't be paying your fee every month if the planes looked and handled like something from an old Mickey Mouse cartoon...so stop with the "it's a game not war" argument...doesn't wash.

Yeah, they didn't send in a third wave.Maybe because they didn't know the location of the US carriers. But they did feel the vulching was successful. :D I'm sure there was some general on country channel yelling kill town, kill town! :furious

lol, you'd be surprised, later that same night, I got 3 free kills in one fight from gang-bangers who kill shot themselves or crashed into trees as I scissored on the deck avoiding one poorly executed BNZ pass after another.

I think you got 3 and 2 reversed and yes it is war it is fake make believe war and if you dont like dieing then go play little miss kitty or something or go to the DA or just dont complain when you die, but if your gonna take off from a field with 30 enemy around trying to take the field guess what your gonna die!!
If you fly into a group of 20 guys on the way to take a base guess what your gonna die!! Or do you and those like you expect a squad or group to all break off and go at you one on one style?

1) AH is not real war, if you think otherwise you're probably too young to be playing this game.
2) Real pilots were fighting a real war. I'm sitting in a chair at my house 'playing' on a computer, not fighting a war.
3) What you might do 'as a real pilot' is completely irrelevant, AH is a game, you are probably at your house, not in an airplane, not in a war.
To compare AH to real war is an insult to those who actually fought in real war. Combat veteran risked their life, you risk getting sent to the tower.

Thank you for making my point for me(sarcasm never comes over well in text lol) and since this is a game and nothing but a game if you die wether its a gangbang or vulch or HO or whatever then dont complain because this is a game and everyone playes it there way.

You are correct on all accounts, but some want to "simulate" real war its their 15 dollars as lame as that sounds.

i dont up from capped fields.. and I dont like taking on 20v1.. so I avoid those situations.. I go elsewhere.. which leaves one less person for those 30 or 20 to fight.. what do they get out of it? do people really play this game hoping to never see enemy?

THIS IS NOT WAR.....trust me on that boys...been there, done that and have the Bosnia Beach Club T shirt. It is a war GAME and as such, it can be treated with the same vigor and intensity as each individual would like to believe they would perform in actual combat.....but it isn't war. Besides, in real combat, if you get KIA, you are no longer issued additional equipment!

Ganging is one of those things that can be fixed easily, so that's why its one of those things that "some of us" complain about most often. This is a combat game, so lets have some combat! It is very easy to look at a fight and say " hmmmm there is 2 guys on that bad guy already, I think they can handle him" and fly on to look for another bogie. Unfortunately far too many DON'T THINK and jump in thinking they can beat their country men to the kill, and before you know it, a gang has formed.
Seeing as planes are cheap, and nobody really dies there will ALWAYS be another bad guy coming. There is no need to "gang". The same goes for the "horde" seeing they are basically the same. An attacking gang is called a horde, and a defending horde is called a gang, strange huh. It's a conscious choice YOU make. All we have to do is to get people to start making the right one :devil
Whats more important, a fight, or credit for a kill? To the "gamers" its the latter, and so we have gangs and hordes. If more people were after the first you would see a huge difference in game play.

Last night was a blast! I saw a super horde at 63 last night. Took a big gulp, said my prayers, and joined some buds in the fight. There were high planes, low planes, and a field full of werbles. It was a sight to behold. We drove them back. Smack down aroma, my plane never got touched. While many fell to the guns of the mighty F4U. A bud of mine upped continuously under that cap, with everything above, 109s, 262s, p51s, 190s, you name it. It was there.
It was because of him I went into that mess. That guy, 50cals, can clear your six like none other.
