Hey all,
I've been dying to play some combat flight sim game here. I'm at a COP so I don't have internet :(. I'm looking for a recommendation for WWII combat flight sim. Only thing I could think of is IL-2 1946. If anyone could think of anything else please reply. Seeing these apache circling my AO all the time really get me jealous =)

At least as far as WWII goes, there's not much current out there so you don't have much choice to begin with if you want an actual SIM and not some arcade piece of trash.

Aces High is a pretty good one, or so I hear... :headscratch:
Although the offline missions in version 2.16 are porked.

Guess that rules out Aces High.

Posting via pigeon?

There's these awesome things called cell phones, ya know. :D Some of them even have full-featured browsers. (The ones that don't are the ones that make a post have a cell-phone as an icon, like most of texasatc's posts)

If you had any, even intermittent web access, you could DL aces high, and the offline missions as I'm sure any problems with those will soon be sorted out.
Otherwise, I'd go with IL2.

You don't need internet to play Aces High offline missions. :P
There's a whole library of them to play.

That should give some people a hint that he's in the sandbox known as the Middle East.

Yeah, I get it.
Iv'e also known some guys over there to be able to get on the internet from time to time.
Maybe long enough to download a few things, maybe not.
I covered both situations in my reply.

Well, not you Jimson since you did cover both but some people like OOZ662 and their comment although it was a reasonable thought.

Mine was in response to Dragon, by the way.

huh, I thought Yenny was stationed in South Korea?
Oh well, I always like Microsoft Combat Flight Sim 3, was very cartoony, but had a pretty much unlimited campaign, that I played all the time, with a pretty good selection of planes, but nothing like AH.
If ya want, take a whack at that.

I NEVER figured that out...no matter what I did, Britain was always invaded and halfway taken over by the time I gave up...

You were a German spy hindering the Brits. :noid

Falcon 4.0 is good but there's lots of stuff going on in the cockpit.
I always liked Xwing myself. That could be a lot of fun for you. Somewhere I found a place to download all the old Xwing series in one pack.
Jane's AH64D Longbow was super awesome, but I haven't been able to find it anywhere in a really long time.
Keep your head down over there and stay healthy. Remember not to give the crappy kids anything. They'll just demand more and cause problems.

Yenny, if you have time to kill and like jets, check out Falcon 4 AF. I'm very impressed by the AI and the detail of the sim, even if the graphics are a little dated. You will need to do a lot of reading just to understand the basics, but I'm sure you could handle it. ;) The most important thing is to have the radar modes mapped to your stick, especially the different ACM modes. SA is completely different than what you're used to in AH; it's almost entirely based on instruments. I've watched someone who knows what he's doing and he very rarely leaves the forward cockpit view.
If you want WW2 combat, then like others have said, go for Il-2 1946.
