...we're gonna get the WWI arena so why not a Korean one?

I think it might be alright. It would bring more fast action ish stuff to the game. It would be a long term development thoe, and wouldn't be out for more than a year. :airplane:

Come on, I was making a pun about jets. I am factually correct about gun combat at 500mph sucking, particularly giving lag time in telecommunications. The faster you go in an internet based game, the bigger the difference in the apparent positions of the players on each screen. Differences are not magically ~50-150 yards in AH and only 0.5-1.5 yards in Team Fortress, nor does Valve have vastly better network code. It is simply that the players in AH are moving ten times as fast as the players in Team Fortress. Double that for F-86s and MiG-17s....
Which leads to the next problem with Korea, there are only two competitive units, the F-86 and the MiG-17, and those two units are also the major combatant units, so perking them would destroy it as a Korean Conflict arena.

This has been debated before in the main part of the forum.
Simply put, gun combat at such high speeds means an insanely difficult time trying to get a shot solution, not to mention the lag difficulties Karnak mentioned.

Not to mention, that in WWI the planes were actually very closely matched. Minor improvements would sway one side to the advantage over the other.
With Korea the difference was much more pronounced.
Strong US advantage then swinging to a strong Korean advantage, then swinging back.
The planes are never really close to being at a par with each other.
Its that equality that makes for good gameplay. So that its not the plane that makes the difference, its the pilot.

I find that gun combat in Lock-On (modern day jets) isn't much different from AH2.

I give a -10000 to this. Isn't this suppost to be a WW2 combat sim? OK, I can see the WW1 arena: People been screaming their heads off for it, and it is an actuall world war arena. But the korean war isn't really related. Its almost like asking for a Vietnam arena or a Gulf War arena.......

The Korean War started less than 5 years after the end of WWII.

Yes, but at the time they were starting to figure that the faster you go, the less need for dogfighting. In WWII, the faster you were, the more dogfighting skills evolved.
Two different things, unrelated, and the time doesn't mean anything. In the 1960's they just wanted speed, 1980's and up they want stealth to the max.

Hey, we should get a korean war arena..." and this thread wouldn't be here if the WW1 arena wasn't created. As I've said, I can kind of see why we have a WW1 arena: there have been endless threads, and wishes on it, and it actually was a world war.

It would be interesting sometime for the Aces High guys to make a Korean War Arena, not now of course, but some time in the future, I think it would be cool.

Hey, we should get a korean war arena..." and this thread wouldn't be here if the WW1 arena wasn't created. As I've said, I can kind of see why we have a WW1 arena: there have been endless threads, and wishes on it, and it actually was a world war.
If you want to split hairs, I would say that Korea was a 'world war' by virtue that close to 20 countries took part in the conflict.

We have a war every 10 years so to say the Korean War relates to WWII because of the time frame is irrelevant and really the Korean War relates to the Vietnam War more so then any other because the Korean War was between the North v.s. South Koreans as the Vietnam War was also the Northern Vietnamese against the Sourthern and the U.S. was allies to the Southern Vietnamese. They both were more so a civil war v.s. a world war conflict

The only reason why I put this post up is after the korean war arena is up someone was start hollering for a vietnam arena and so forth. After the World War I arena (I'm looking forward to this think it will be fun) I would suggest to stop worrying about making more arena's and focus on more the arenas we already have user friendly.

Well yeah, I guess if you want to split hairs. But still, I see no point to getting a korean war arena other than to satisfy a small portion of the players who wanted more once we got the WW1 arena.

Clutters up the search why make new threads all the time if its still something not in game? Maybe a joke or Oclub post but a real wish i m not so sure.

CURRENTLY someone wants a Korean war Arena....
And if people would use the search more and use the already numerous posts we wouldnt have 17 of the same thing. Im not saying necrobumb everything but for the wishlist? I would have to think there is SOME leeway.

in case there ever is a Korean Arena, it would have to have helicopters and especially Hotlips Hoolihan :banana:

If a Korean War arena is ever introduced the B-36 would not be one of the planes in the plane set.
