Anyone try running AH on a netbook yet? Post your results if you have. Just curious about this.

This would get a much bigger response in the Hardware and Software forum.
I personally haven't done it, but I can speculate that you'd run into the same problems as the non-gaming laptops; insufficient/underclocked hardware that's used to preserve battery life over delivering horsepower and inefficient throttling systems. They'd also be exacerbated by the tiny little screen...

The response here would be the same.
I'm not going to speculate anything, simply because in the13+ years I've been building systems , I've seen many many things that make you go.."hmm".
I was actually thinking about buying one of the more advanced ones out there, and seeing if it could be done just for chits and giggles. I was more curious of those who may have already tried , and what their specs(CPU and graphics accelerator chips specifically) were for the systems tested. Even if they could post the make and model numbers and the results , I could research it from there.

OK I just tried it last night... for the heck of it.
I didn't try to disable anything.. had about 40 processes running.. 1.6 Atom Processor, 512MB RAM, XP Home, 120GB NON-SSD drive, Intel Integrated GFX. I also left A/V running (AVG Free right now) for some kind of a baseline.
1024X600 Resolution, 128 Textures, All advanced AH GFX options off (except bump), and sliders all the way down...
Ready for this?
You sure you want to know?
17FPS (Offline mode sitting still on runway). If I look straight up, I can get 30FPS.
I took off, flew in a pattern and then tried to land (if you think flying with a mouse is hard, try a touchpad)... It stayed pretty much 15-20FPS the whole time. Turning off bump didn't improve performance any.
I figure if I trim do the processes and turn off A/V it MIGHT see 25 fps or so... which might be acceptable IF there is no stuttering... but something tells me that's not likely...
I'll let you guys know when I run some more tests...

Interesting. What make and model is the netbook?
-
wow...you could actually fly?
My AcerOne Netbook barely starts the game. The graphics (Intel GMA 500) has huge problems with text (just square blocks) Clipboard (mostly black) objects in the game are blocks and very slow respons times...
AcerOne AO751-H
Intel Atom CPU 1.33GHz
1GB Memory
Intel GMA 500 Integrated Graphics
Windows XP Home Edition
Graphics set to 128bit
Low Detail Graphics
All advanced graphics turned off
800x600 Resolution.
I cant even see the output to get the FPS...LOL

If you mean outside of game (like on websites), that could be due to missing fonts.
-
text is messed on the splashscreen, maps, Icons, graphic info , radio....etc.
IE...start the game and when the AH Graphic (spit and 190) appear the version and rev info is just red and green blocks. Same IN the game too.

With the Asus 1201N I had framerates ranging from 35fps, dropping to 12 to 15 at lowest. I don't have the netbook with me at the moment and cannot remember where I had the graphics set at.
The netbook is running WIN 7 Home Premium.
ASUS Eee PC 1201N Specs:

•Memory/: 4GB
•Graphics: Nvidia Ion
•Hard drive: 250GB (plus 500GB online storage)
