would love to tell you that it would feel better tomorrow but i will be lying...
prepare to be in bed with a crap load of pain killers for the next few days

Take the vicadin, that will make you feel better :)
That's what they gave me for mine, and make sure you don't open up your mouth all the way, would suck to have dry socket. Your mouth is not going to want to open tommorrow, and the holes that come from that do not go away for a wile. I got mine done in may, and it's still open. Make sure you clean it with that needle that they give you too, that help out big time as it was healing, but I'm sure you know all of this stuff.

Daaaaaaaammmmm...sorry man that's not fun.
I cheated...vicodin and bourbon for 2 days...then I started rinsing with salt water...followed by vicodin and bourbon...healed up in 5 days to the point I could eat semi solid food again...took a month to be totally done.

Drink Beer  :headscratch: :old: :old: :neener: :neener:

Lat,
I feel for you,ouch.... carefull of a dry socket, thats were the blood clot comes out of the wound!!
make yourself a saltwater solution, strong on the salt, and rinse often, like once an hour. This will help keep Bactria controlled and hopefully stop any infection.
liberal use of pain meds isnt a bad idea either!!
:salute

Ironically removing wisdom teeth "Smarts".
-
Get it done it basic training. 2 days of recovery and a little aspirin once you get back to your company.
-
My wife says to chew bite down on tea bags... it will take the swelling out. One of those old country things, but apparently it works.

I ate ice pops it was soothing and kept the swelling down.

Definitely use the salt water rinse, A LOT. If they gave you a plastic syringe with a curved tip for irrigation of the wounds, use it along with general rinse activities. Use warm water too as cold water kinda hurts. Yep you are going to be sore for a couple days or more. Catch up on your computer game playing to help take your mind off of it.
Major hint here. DO NOT try to drink liquids with a straw. Putting suction on the wounds is a mite painful and can cause bleeding. Do drink water, not soda. Warm beverages, non carbonated and as sugar free as you can get them. Take the pills. Do not think you are being studly by being in pain, you are just being silly. That process hurts and you heal faster when you are not in pain.

Back in 1991 I had all four pulled. Bottom ones were drilled out. I seized one of the oral surgeons drills (he was pissed). I had 3 milkshakes afterwards throughout the day. Next morning I got up at 5am, went to Cedar Point and rode every Roller Coaster. Oh to be young again.
For those claiming "Vicodin"? Suck it up.

I've had both two upper wisdom teeths pulled. There wasnt any pain after the anesthetics wore off, when a whole tooth had come off. The other one didn't come off at first time, but broke in two and the root was left in - that time it did hurt for couple of days. Since the dentist wasn't permitted to do "surgery" I had to come other time to remove the root. A few days later it was removed by making a small cut in the gum and pulled off by it. After the anesthetics wore off I didn't feel any pain. Though, I tore the stitches three days afterwards by sneezing and being too slow to cover my cheek with hand, but that didn't cause any problems.
I do still have my lower wisdom teeths :(
Should have them pulled off before I get older, since it might get harder. Although already by my age it doesn't make much difference anymore, it'll probably hurt the same now and 10 years from now.

Got all four pulled earlier this year. I heard all the horror stories but guess I'm a lucky one. Got home and took a nap, woke up feeling fine, spent the next couple days lying around (enjoying the days off work) but can't say I ever was in pain. Took a couple hydrocodone but still have most of em left.

I took the one pain killer they gave me after surgery. The rest of them are still in the bottle left untouched. As A Matter of fact, the day I got it done I started dating my ex (so I blamed that relationship on the after effects of NO2) And once the bleeding stopped I got up and did my usual daily activities. I lived off of pudding and ice cream because I couldn't open my mouth wide enough to eat anything else. One big tip that helped me with swelling
ICE YOU FACE!!!!
Ice packs on the cheeks. Everyone complained about swelling, but every so often I would put an ice pack on each cheek (the day of the surgery and thats it).

Couldn't really get any sleep last night. Kept getting up and going back to sleep. Felt like daylight was dead! Been using Ice Packs every 15 minutes yesterday, and every 30 minutes today. Painkillers work wonders! :x Been kinda hard to talk to anyone lately since all I can say is "amphu mufuni ooorsu" :lol

Some may say we got lucky, had a different situation, good doctor, I prefer to think we're just BA tough guys. :aok

My 4th wisdom tooth removing will be 'fun'.
First they must cut my gum open with scalpel, then grin my jaw bone a bit off and then they can pull that sucker out... I hope.
Yeah, I'm so much up to make a reservation for it... Oh, boy :(

I had mine out During my junior year of high school. Pain killers the day off and day after. i was playing full court basketball on the third day with no pain. But I handle that kind of pain pretty well. When I had 5 vertebrae fused in my back after a car accident when I graduated college the nurses yelled at me daily because I wouldn't use my morephine IV trigger unless I wanted to sleep.

I had six wisdom teeth! :O
So I guess I'm really smart?
I had no problem with recovery, only a few days of soreness. My sister had a terrible time with dry sockets which was probably from smoking. I was smart enough to pull the filter off the cigarette so I didn't have to suck too hard to smoke. Still a bad idea, though.

That's kinda what I've been saying all along. And, if you knew my ex, it would make me sound even more BA :lol

You may be smarter, but I bet it hurts more to get 6 removed than 4! :D :P

Im 20, and Im just now getting my upper left wisdom tooth thats growing in- with 3 more coming in anytime now. Im not sure what I should do about it. It doesnt hurt, but my main concern is the rest of my teeth. Will the wisdom teeth crowd out my jaw and make everything crooked again??? I had braces taken off when I was 16.

Im at that point now, my wisdom teeth are coming in fairly straight, the top ones are already all the way in the bottoms are almost done.
Went to the dentist a month ago and they wanted me to get them taken out. I asked "why? it does not hurt a bit.."
Their response was, "well even with that being so we dont want it to be infected back there..."
I told them, "until then ill just take my $3000 and spend it else where :D"

man, I had three removed and to tell you the truth, hands down, the i-v needle was the thing that hurt me the most. Honestly I didn't have to take pain med because there was no reason to. LOL I the same day I got mine out the 7th harry potter book came out that night and I remember waiting in line for it, I think I was still a little loopy from the surgery because I looked like I was drunk when I was walking into the store. :lol
