I know I'm like two seasons late to the party, but I hardly ever watch television... so pardon my tardiness. If you're not already familiar... You might like the TV series "Chuck" if you are part nerd (who isn't) and have felt the pain of unrequited love. (who hasn't) The really cool thing about this series is the nerd gets to be the hero.
Discovered the series from my Netflix browsing, but the pilot and some season 2 episodes are available right now for free on Hulu.
Oh, and the nerd gets a super hot chick. Worth watching just for her smile.

Chuck's biggest problem is how to market it because of the way it crosses so many genre lines. Calling it an Action-Comedy-Romance-Spy-Drama may be accurate, but is one heck of a mouthful. Doesn't help that NBC's promotional material hasn't done the series justice, either. They need ads like the ones being run by Virgin1 in the UK:

The best way I can think of describing it is that in a lot of ways it reminds me of True Lies. It's not an outright satire, but more tongue-in-cheek.
What they NEED to do is release a JEFFSTER! album, then have Scott Krinsky and Vic Sahay make the rounds of the late night programs IN-CHARACTER as Jeff and Lester, both as guest performers and doing interviews. The creepy bizarness that is Jeff would generate plenty of viewer interest on its own.
:D

I've been following what news there is to be had since Leno and his chin hijacking a third of NBC's primetime hours nearly cost it renewal for Season 3. Oh, and I also bought my Finale Footlong and wrote Subway to thank them for their support.
Yeah, you could say I knew.

I'm hoping they bring back Jordana Brewster. Her character had so much potential, particularly now that she's rogue.

And Casey really makes this show worth watching. He gets all the best lines. For example, Chuck is running around the bad guy's headquarters, looking for "Sarah" being held captive by Fulcrum instead of accomplishing the mission. Casey looks at him and says "Love is for suckers."

Jill definitely has interesting implications for the future of the series. I'd hoped that she was going to try to shoot Sarah, and Chuck shot her first to get his "First Kill." Man, that would have been great drama, there (I don't count Uncle Bernie and Phil as "kills" in that episode. Bernie had a heart attac on his own, and Phil would have probably gone out the window either way). But I REALLY want to see where this is going. Is Jill going to return from FULCRUM? Was the part she'd said before about wishing she could get out true and she goes on the run from BOTH?
I still get the feeling she turns up again eventually to return the ring Chuck let her keep so he can give it to Sarah.
And agreed, LOVE Casey, especially all the completely random and seemingly out-of-character things that the writers come up with for his background. It's absolutely hilarious seeing things like the bonsai tree, his obsession with quiche, and randomly learning he was a choir boy and has perfect pitch ("What? Do you think I was hatched?" :rofl ). That's why I hope we never learn TOO much about him, because it gives them less room to come up with crazy things like that.
Although I'm going to say it now: Casey's mom HAS to be Leslie Easterbrook in full-on Callahan mode:
She's a LITTLE young if we assume Casey is as old as Baldwin (47) but TV/movie magic can fudge it.
And it would be outright HILARIOUS if Casey's dad turned out to be a total liberal hippie anti-Casey. ESPECIALLY if they got R. Lee Ermy to do it playing against type (even better if they hyped "R. Lee Ermy as Casey Sr.," but don't show him at ALL in the previews, so it's a total surprise when he appears). That's just the sort of joke I can see them pulling.
Whatever financial cuts they had to make for Season 3, it sure wasn't in their casting budget:
Armand Assante
Brandon Routh
Kirsten Kreuk
Angie Harmon
"Stone Cold" Steve Austin
I still hope they find a way to bring in Shatner and Hasselhoff. Shat would be absolutely HILARIOUS with the way he can make fun of himself, (there's LOTS of Star Trek connections on the show, too) and with all the 80s geek references they HAVE to bring in the Hoff. And John Larroquette NEEDS to come back.

Chuck is one of my favorite shows. Excellent cast. The blond, Sarah(Yvonne Strahovski)gets a lot of the attention but the brunette, Ellie (Sarah Lancaster) is equally as hot. I have been a fan of Adam Baldwin(Casey) since the Angel and then Firefly. The Buy More setting is brilliant. Zachary Levi is believable as the computer geek, love interest. Nerdy yet engaging enough to get the hot girl.
I do get tired of the love interest cliche'. Will they get together, will they stay together? ..same old cowardly writing we have all seen before.. Always afraid of taking a relationship to the next level because it might ruin the show. The side characters are very good, very well cast and written. And very funny! Chuck is escapist TV at its best, not too deep, just a good half hour on the couch. :aok

One of my favorite shows, First season was better than the second. I am actually worried that the 3rd will suck because of all the changes they ended up making.

If you read the interviews all of this was planned from the beginning. IMO I think it was a necessary progression. It would be a lot duller, not to mention awful character development, if Chuck pines to have the Intersect removed for four seasons. Instead Season 2 was ABOUT Chuck realizing that this is what he was meant to be and do.
The Hero's Journey played very heavily into the development of the series. Bryce's death was necessary because he really didn't have anything to DO anymore but show up periodically to throw a wrench in the Chuck and Sarah 'Ship. That already got old when he appeared in the third episode of the season. I'm looking forward to how Chuck as a willing agent, rather than being trapped IN the life is going to play out, especially now that Awesome knows he's a spy.

I still have to see season two. :D
I hope the show doesn't jump the shark too soon.

They really need to get Anna involved as a "concerned citizen" in more of the episodes. The one where she took down Strahan in the stockroom cage was hilarious!
-
That was a great scene, especially her wall run. But my money for best fight scene mismatch was Yvonne (Sarah) vs. Michael Clarke Duncan (Mr. Colt).
I wonder who ends up fighting "Stone Cold" Steve Austin next year. It would be HILARIOUS if it ended up being Chuck.
