Title: Pinball: P-63
Post by: Chalenge on October 26, 2009, 12:22:23 PM
The P-63 was used for training bomber gunners armed with 'frangible' bullets that would hit the specially modified Kingcobra and cause a light bulb to be lit on the tip of the spinner. This would make an excellent training tool if it could be added to the training arena as an artificial intelligence (AI) addition.

Specifically I would like to see different approaches of the P-63 used simply by moving to different gun positions.

You can do this with ANY aircraft in the TA now.  Shoot at it and when you hit it, you see hit sprites.  Also, the ammo in the TA does no damage to the target aircraft.

Well your concentrating on the obvious light-bulb and missing the whole AI thing. OF COURSE the hit sprites will show up but this is an historical use of the plane.  :neener:

I'd much rather have a function that reports back the hit percentage of each burst.

And the russian who shot down the Japanese fighter is not an historical use?

I did point out that the top scoring Allied pilot preferred not to fly the P-63 its true. I dont have a problem with this plane being in the MA anymore than I do the P-51 Apache and I do certainly want that!  :D
