A little background. I'm still pretty new to RC. I dabbled around with it around 20 years ago with the Cox EZbee and flying that was a pain in the bellybutton since it was full throttle all the time. So I did high powered rocketry and didn't touch RC till July 08 when I got a Blade CX2 helicopter. So much had changed, crashed and rebuilt a lot and wasn't too expensive. So 3 weeks ago another pilot friend and mine were trying to repair his CX2 so we went down to a local shop. Boy whata mistake...he came out with a heli with a nice gyro and I found a Bind N Fly P-51. So I boound it to my 2.4 GHz radio, had it flying for about 3 hours airtime, just absolutely flew the toejam out of it. Had no problem controlling it with all that 3rd person shooter aces high experience.
Fast forward, we were flying - I brought the 51 vert and the motor cut out and controlls stopped responding. It handed nose down in tall cat tail grasses with little to no damage. Verified the controls working, weird. I switched lipo's and ran it full while static and all seemed ok. So sent it back in the air for 1 min and landed, seemed ok.
So relaunched and this time while straight and level when the motor cut, no roll or pitch and kaplam - yardsale. Called up Horizon and said it sounded like the electronic speed control and to send it back. I was like ok, and today came a new plane no charge! Holy toejam! I love when companies stand behind a product for a change.

horizon hobbies are one of the best out there to deal with.
it does sound like there was a "glitch" in your speed controller. they're supposed to cut the power to the motor when there's still enough juice to safely control it back to the runway in a glide.

Yea i usually landed 1 or 2 minutes before the battery timed out anyway. But on a fresh battery it just dumped the motor and the controls at the same time. Weird.

Parkzone has always been en excellent company, along with a lot of the R/C companies that support stuff like that, such as the Spektrum that you are reffering to (2.4 GhZ). My biggest story was that one of the Spektrum 7 channel went completley dead, no bind, nothing, was not working at all. A rep from Spektrum gave me one of his own personal 7 channel recivers! A $99 reciever for free. Needless to say that guy had good report from us.
If you stick with Parkzone, there is a couple of planes that they have came out that are really great. The first, which is really great, the T28. It's probably their best plane that they have to offer, and can do loads of stuff, and it's dosn't need much room to fly either.
Second plane is their F4U, which I heard is another great plane from them, although I have never flown one, I have seen loads of them fly with great grace.
The other plane, that they just got is the 109. I have not have seen them fly yet, I have seen a couple out on the field, but not in the air. You can either hand launch or put wheels on and fly.
Oh, and BTW, if you want to know more about them, just talk to me on squad, I can tell you alot about those planes and how to fly them :)

I've heard that either a bad battery or a bad ESC can cause that.
Those foamy electrics are so cheap though, it doesn't surprise me that they replaced it for you. The foam EDFs are pretty much the same deal, and the ESCs seem to be fragile. I got one of the EDF F-18s and before I fly it the first time, I'm going to mod it just a bit to get more airflow over the ESC so maybe it'll last longer. My second mod is to get a higher capacity battery, which will make cooling the ESC even more important.

i just bought a used t28(parkzone) but haven't flown it yet. a buddy of mine just bought the 109. i'll let yas know as soon as he flies it.
i have an alpha models corsair. it flies fanstastic. with no rudder, i can do nearly anything i want, and it keeps up with a lot of the 40 sized models. :D

might oughtta get the T34 combo, and get the bind n fly 109 after youcrashed a few times. T34 is supposedly a dream. I of course went straight to F4U, which in turn went straight to scrap heap on second flight. :angel: Now of course theres more thatn the f4u in the heap. Started scratch building foamies too, cheap, and fun to build. easy to fix after a SAPP landing too

Thing I love having flown both the F4U and T28, the P51 is soooo much lighter, especially with the brushless motor. Yea it requires a bit more space, but it flies great in slow flight like the 28 - but is so much faster then either the F4U or the 28 on the same power pack.

I had bought the 190 about a year or so ago and had nothing but trouble with it. Glad to hear someone is having good luck with them.

The 190 from Parkzone was a bad design. Underpowered, heavy and the elevator is way too small. I only got a couple of good flights in-between major repairs before I gave up on it.
I also have the J-3 Cub and Typhoon 2 3D from Parkzone and have nothing but good things to say about them. Great performance and fun to fly.

I did something rather odd. I sourced a small CCD camera and slapped it on the nose of my 51.

I even mounted it to my real plane this afternoon to see how it worked. Worked great!
