The trainer website is currently "down" so go to... THIS (http://www.netaces.org) website and read everything at least three times.
There is an incredible wealth of information there. (hence the "read three times" bit)
Many of the articles on that site are the exact articles I used to broaden my virtual skies with.
I printed out most of the articles (when I was new to flying many moons ago) and kept 'em in several 3 ring binders which I poured over every chance I got.
You can also send the trainers and email trainers@flyaceshigh.com to get a time setup for a training session.

After you've done that (which is excellent advise btw)
Then start coming into the TA for an hour or so every night and practice putting that new knowledge into use.
With luck you'll eventually run into a trainer and get a few tips.

Besides everything already posted, some of the best advice that I was given (and the most boring) is to fly in offline mode and shoot the red things that can't evade you until you get a feel for what a good sight picture is for your own personal preferences. I hated it, but now a guns solution is much more instinct than logic and I can concentrate on getting shot down in style :D

PILOTO:
Welcome to your new addiction! If you're like most folks, the first few weeks online are going to be very fun, but also very challenging. You'll get shot down a LOT, and your mental health will be helped if you accept those virtual defeats for the learning experience that each offers. Film all of your encounters, and watch them over and over again, using the "Film Viewer".
If you haven't already advanced beyond the absolute basics, you might enjoy the video clips that I put here:
http://www.TechVideoReview.com/FlightSimMovies Look in the "Aces High" section
I created those videos for a group of Boy Scouts that wanted to use Aces High to study for their "Aviation" merit badge. They start out VERY basic, on the assumption that viewers have absolutely no background in flight simulation and that they know very little about computers. They advance to the secrets of gunnery and squeezing the most out of your computer setup for each airplane. I hope you find them useful.
In addition, the advice given in prior posts is excellent; most people find it helpful to fly offline for a few days before they face the online masters.
I hope this helps!
