Title: Range (or Fuel Burn Time)
Post by: Batmann on September 06, 2000, 07:14:00 PM
I'm creating "Japan South Terrain" for event. It will need to fly long range. So, I check Fuel Burn Time off-line. I set-up FuelBurnRateMulti 2.5 as same of MainArena.  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

F4U-1D could fly 5'46" by full throttle 25% fuel no wep no drop tanks.
It could fly 7'26" by Manifold presure 35. It's good for long range flight.
Next, I tested propeller pitch. I made engine speed 2000rpm down. But, F4U-1D fly 5'46" only. Engine speed didn't influence fuel burn time.

It's strange, isn't it?  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/confused.gif)

I noticed the same thing.

As it stands now, you need a Texico Station on your wing to hit 10k in the MA. During my trial I tried a 205 just for kicks. Full fuel of course. By the time I hit 10k from sea level I only had a half-tank left.

From that experience I set the fuel burn rate to 0.20 in the H2H games I host. Keeps things a bit more realistic, and it adds to the fun. Then again, I also double the ammo loads of every plane (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)
