It isn't truly modeled with separate gauges placed in there, rather, it is a bunch of AMAZING textures placed in there to simulate a 3 dimensional cockpit, which restricts head movement to being on a swivel, as if you moved your head, it would destroy the illusion of dimension.
Edit: Well frak, and I was coming in here feeling so knowledged and special. I guess I should update my IL-2 game then.

Our thanks goes to Fly-by-Shooter and Aces High 2 for granting us the use of their excellent new mechanical and cockpit layers.
It appears that HTC has helped IL-2 do some catch up.
