Title: Seeking B17 Exclusive Squadron
Post by: rosburn on November 01, 2009, 10:41:29 PM
I have been flying various aircraft on AHII for about a year and really enjoy the challenge of flying, bombing, and fighting the B17 Flying Fortress. Although admittedly I am a sorry fighter jock, I have developed pretty good all round skills in the B17; an aircraft I have long been interested in, respected, and love flying in AHII. I have worked hard recently to develop high altitude bombing proficiencies at 25,000 ft and higher using precision bombing (not carpet bombing) and enjoy the challenge of flying high and going deep. I am a mature, retired Army guy, who seeks a well organized fun-loving B17 squadron to fly with. Let me just reiterate that my interest is flying B17s exclusively. If you feel I might be a good fit for your squadron, I appreciate you taking a moment to offer a post.

Ros,

You should check into thndrEGG's 91st BG. They fly B17s and are based off of the historical 91st BG of WW2. They fly Bishops in the MAs.  :aok

<--Chiming in! Good to hear of your interest, Rosburn. If you like, check out our website in my sig-line. We have a recruits section in our forum. Our vox is 191, and we are a Bishop-only outfit. We fly the B17 as our core heavy bomber, but we do break from it to enjoy other aspects that this game offers. Our squad night is Saturday, 7pm (Mountain Time), where we agree on a certain target area to be hit, and we don our 91st colors (Triangle-A on the tail). We usually get requests from many escort groups to accompany us, especially from the 82nd Fighter Group, the Midwest Mafia, and others.

Our missions are immersive. We strive for patience (a biggie), teamwork, and most of all- fun. We believe in the proper roll the B17 represents. We don't "game" it. We stand at 12 active members, and two inactive.

Also, I'd like to add some good reading for the general community. Check out the real-life 91st Bomb Group memorial website at www.91stbombgroup.com. Lots of interesting stories, photos, and information.

<S> Rosburn. Hope to see you soon. :)

Whoa, that's narrow! Might as well look for a Chute only squad!  :rofl

In reality, most get bored doing the same thing over and over.

Only if you are a chronic player. Most folks in my squad (including myself) have limited time due to real life, jobs, other hobbies, kids, etc. Therefore in turn, boredome is not an issue.

Getback, based on your advice I tried out for the "Chute Only" squad but I was NOT accepted by those guys because I was (as you suggested in your post) "to narrow" - I only wanted to jump with a functional chute.

Thndregg, thank you for the invite, I plan to meet up with the squad on Saturday evening. Do you wish to have someone link up with me beforehand to go over some of the squad flight operations in order to minimize "newbee drag" on Saturday night?

We're not real strict most nights. We're pretty free-form, doing whatever presents itself either individually or as a team. Saturday, however, we dress appropriately. :)
Rosburn, I think you'll do fine, sir. I'm sure anyone on my channel will be able to help if you have any concerns. <S>
