... as a Xmas present for the LW-pilots.
FW190D13 Yellow 10, flown by Major Götz of JG26 (if i remember right).
Its an incredible plane.
It has as 1st FW190 hydraulic boosted ailerons.
guns are 3xMG151.
Engine is a JUM213E rated at 2000 hp i think.
Topspeed ist around 453 mph.
Will look into Crandells Book at home.
Its just an crazy idea of an FW190D fanatic.
Dont take it to serious. But i would love to hunt with this bird after all the LA7s around.
Dont know why but img wont show up :(

Seems like it would make a neat perk plane.
What did it do at sea level? 410mph?
-
Dunno exactly but it would hit 400 mph for sure.
It is a cleaner plane than the D9, cause the MG131 were removed and the breach was sealed with a flat plate. And it has more eng power.
Data for D12/13 should be pretty much the same, cause from what i knew they only differ in what gun shots trough the prob spiner.
D12= MK108
D13= MG151
-
Some late 190D9s did 398MPH on the deck. I imagine this would be even faster. But its far far too rare for AH, only few dozen were produced and issued to combat units in march/april 1945.
-
Hey Grunherz, i mentioned it as Xmas present and dont tell me u wouldnt like to fly that kite.
-
Sure it be fun I guess. but I stay away from perk planes. I like my 109G6, 190A5, and G10 when I wanna go fast.
-
why not ? instead of pure perk planes
alow use in MA only for perks won in CT arena it will be realy rare and nice revard for CT arena players , for exaple a P 51 H like CT revard plane ?

Just found this link yesterday about "Yellow 10"... http://pub73.ezboard.com/fluftwaffeexperten71774frm7.showMessage?topicID=2.topic (http://pub73.ezboard.com/fluftwaffeexperten71774frm7.showMessage?topicID=2.topic)
Someone's trying to restore it to flying condition (I'm one who cringes when hearing of extremely rare aircraft like the dora being restored to flying condition.), and also note the interesting part about the wing mixup. I'd love to see her one day, though it would mean a trip across half the Pacific for me.
The hub-mounted mg151 would help snapshots since it's not synchronized as the wing root mounts are.

p.s. if there's any apparent trouble linking that article directly, let me know and I'll change it.

D-9 was the fastest Focke Wulfe at low altitudes. Everything that came after was made for higher altitudes. Btw, Jumo 213E is the engine in the Ta 152H. So I highly doubt that the D-13 would do 400mph at sea level. I'd guess around 380mph at most.
-
Ta152 was moslt likely faster at the deck, specially with both boosts system open and throttle on full.
Any idea if the D13 saw any action? If it did, it's a legitimate plane to add IMO, just as the P51-H is.
-
190s didn't even have a hydraulic system.
I don't know that D-13 was more than a prototype.
:)
-
Now if they were expensive enough id agree wholeheartedly to very rare even unique types of aircraft eg the 190 mentioned or Gabreski's P47 they all talk about or any other of the 1 off modifications. This is Exactly the sort of thing id like to see but it has to be something earned, for example chances to change setups of whatever ride you like for the cost of a few perks.
nothing too rediculous, something like the removal of smaller mgs for weight saving or other modifications. If it was done in the war im all for it.Just that perk costs should reflect the rarity of the modification.

1st, its good to hear they put it into flying condition again.
I read they still had the wrong wings attached to it (those of a D9) with which it can take off. The funny thing is u can exchange wings between D9 and D13 but the pieces that take the stress are not so same.
I wonder if they get the missing Kommandogerät, without it they won't be able to run the eng at more than idle rpm.
And to the combat history and performance:
The yellow ten is the plane flown by Major Götz as Kommodore of JG26 near the end of the war. It actually must have seen limited service.
Also the Werk-Nr. of Yellow 10 ist 836017.
From what i know every new version of the FW190 got new 3 digits at the werk Nr. here it is the 863 (these are also assigned to a certain factory).
And the last number gives the actually plane number, here the 017. This indicates that 17 D13 were at least build in "series", cause prototypes remain there old Werk-Nr. and dont get a new one assigned.
The yellow 10 was no prototpye.
And the FW190 might not have a hydraulic system till the D9. But the D13 has a hydraulic aileron boost system, this is one reason why the D13 wings can not be attached to a D9 for flying duties.
I dont have speed curves for the D13, but it would for sure match the speed of the D9. I have a speed at ground lvl for the D12 (which is the same as a D13 but with an MK108 instead of a MG151) of 608 km/h only 4km/h slower than the 120 KG lighter D9.
And most of those 120kgs are additinal fuel, cause D12 has to wing tanks added.
Climb time to 10km are 13,1 min for the D12 and 16,8 for D9 @combat power.
Or 10,9 mins for D12 to 10km and 12,5 mins for D9 to 10km with WEP (MW50).
Maybe D13 would not reach 400 mph on the deck, but it would be as fast as D9 and climb better.
The D13 also had a no prob a VS9 wooden paddle prob, that from what i get out of the P47 paddle prob discussion would increase performance (especially climb).
And a last comment, this is actually not a debate if this plane is a legal choice for AH. It is just the Xmas which of a guy that really loves the Yellow 10, if i find supporters for this plane fine, if not its no prob at all.

The idea of having rare mods/versions for extra perks sounds like a neat thing to have. As an extension to hazed and Naudet's ideas, how about an additional requirement? Say you have to have so many sorties and a certain success rate (dunno how that would be measured) before you can get the mods. Would encourage getting to master certain planes, but of course may not promote variety. This can be applied to other aircraft also, like the field modded P-47's, etc. that got extra boost. I bet the 56th would love that (I like the cool camo patterns those birds had too). Something to think about in the long term, since it's not a priority item.
Btw.. here's another link to a picture of a magazine article on the restoration of Yellow 10: http://home.att.net/~mr.442guy/Wulfpage_01/Page_39x.html (http://home.att.net/~mr.442guy/Wulfpage_01/Page_39x.html)
for others interested in 190's, this guy builds R/C planes and loves the 190. Check out the rest of his site for his reference books (I have about four out of his 29 :p ). Naudet, do you have the Eagle Editions monogram on Yellow 10? If you don't have it (and can afford it), you may like it.

Also I've read where there were 6 pilots attached to JV44 Platzschutzstaffel. Any idea who the "sixth" was?
