Title: and the Sportsmanship award goes to.......
Post by: SkyRock on November 02, 2009, 09:24:50 PM
Since I have been playing this game...over 6 years now...  I'd have to say that 999000 would probably get my vote overall....

If there was such an award given, who would you vote for?

I vote for Oldman.

When you consider all that he has put up with in the AVA and has stuck with it and the fact that he is always willing and up to a 1v1 fight no matter the circumstances and is always, always a great sport no matter the outcome, he is defineltly way up there on my list of guys that I love to meet up with in this game.  A model citizen for sure.

I have to second that as well for Corky that is, I don't see morfiend that much at all, maybe diff times or something.

Vonmessa

solar10

Funny, those two are real mouthy over 200.  Last stuff I saw from VonMessa was him complaining that Manurin took too long to shoot his 109 K4 down  in a Corsair.  Then Solar10 gets on and every time he dies it's a lucky pick by the other side.  He's just that good.

I'd have to vote for Batfink...awesome sport and never a bad word to say in public.  Manurin too.  Pretty humble, and lots of skill there.

Solar10 is a former squaddie of mine from two squads, and even though he's an effective cartoon fighter guy, he's a stand-up individual no matter what side of the fence he's on.

There are a lot of people that I've met over the years here that are all quality individuals but having spent a fair amount of time in the game with him on vox and after many conversations Corkyjr stands out.  I've simply never seen or heard him raise his voice once in complaint in my memory, not a whine, not a whimper.  He's someone who really knows exactly how important this game is, and that's not much in the grand scope of things, it's a silly little game that we can all have fun playing pretend cartoon fighter pilots and that how he approaches it.

CorkyJr is a vulcher!  I'll be minding my own business as I takeoff, only to see a P38 fire at me, with many parts come flying off and ultimately I become rattled by a loud explosion.  Maybe Corky shouldn't be trying to vulch me when we are on the same country.  :P

Honestly though, there are countless players with great sportsmanship, so it's difficult for me to pick the "best" one.

never once seen or heard the dude get mad. never. not here on the bbs, and not in game.

to top it off, i've seen him pull his squad away from capped bases to let the uppers get some fighting altitude and speed. at least twice.

As such I vote for CorkyJr.

wurz, ren, and oddCAF for me

wurz just because he is an extremely cool guy and offers lots of help to people

ren for putting up with someone with my disability and helping me setup views for 5 hours one night, long ago

OddCAF for being one of the best guys I've ever met in game who understood what I needed to learn to fly and sent me a copy of Shaw's Fighter Combat. That book made my AH life so much better.

As far as an award, I dunno. I think that would belittle all the people in this game who are awesome people. For an online community we are very fortunate to have the number of helpful people that we do, from online trainers to just general advice givers. This game has the best community of any mmo out there and I'm very appreciative of that.

I've shot down one of your drones before and once I saw it was '999000' I broke pursuit because I knew I was lucky I was still alive.   :lol

Back when he used to fly on other countries, whenever I'd get that kill message saying it was "999000" I'd chomp at the bit! I'd think "He's got 1/3 less guns now! Strike!" and he always made a good fight of it!

i've made that mistake on other people.

careful, slashing attacks. ping here, ping there. fuel hit, kill an engine....finally one of them goes down.

don't let down my guard. still a lot of guns. slash, hit here n there. #2 goes down.

ok.....hardly any guns, run in with reckless abandon, kill the last one fast, before he can drop!!

I used to attack buffs as I found them, and would be lucky to get one or maybe two before I got killed.  Then I read on the boards about the correct way to attack bombers and decided to try it.

I run into a set of B17s at about 8K.  I took a good 5-10 minutes or so to carefully climb 2K over them and get my speed up.   When everything's perfect I dive in, pointing a bit ahead of the right hand drone, rolling to keep it in view and then start firing, looking to hose down the fuselage and cockpit.  Next thing I know there's blood and oil all over the cockpit and then I'm in the tower and 999000 is sending me encouraging PMs.

So another vote for 999000, but there's a lot of good sports out there, <S> to them all.

i had one set of lancs i attacked a few weeks ago.........they were very close to the drop point on our cv, so i didn't take too much time to set up........i went in balls to the walls, coming from his 7 hi, took out the left drone, then the manned buff, and flew directly into the right drone. it didn't warp.......i juat had a very very poorly planned attack.
i almost fell out of my chair laughing at myself, as bigamer took the last one down.

i know there are lots of others that could deserve it. i don't fly lw much, so it's hard for me to say. i've flown with and against corky, is why.

also, like i mentioned before he's the only person i've ever seen get a group to back off from a capped base to allow the uppers time to get speed and alt for a fight.

i think i was fighting him once...him 38 me hellkitty.........was being a fun fight, someone came in and picked me...took 1/2 of my wing off. i recovered, and he came on 200, and said go try to land it.

 who else does that?  :aok

This is either a lame attempt to bait an arguement or you just want to hump the ankles of the people who got a grudge with our sqaud. Let me ask you one thing just to see if your completely ignorant of who Waystin actually is....Have you ever had an actual run in with Way other then on text? Notice alot of the people that voted for Way fly Knights in the MA......pick your targets better :aok
Yall take stuff way too seriously :salute
