Title: Real Life has taken over
Post by: Tom5572 on November 03, 2009, 09:45:25 PM
Ladies and Gentlemen:
On October 31st at 1706 hrs Mountain Standard Time Sophia Kathrin Glaser took her first breath in this world.  Weighing in at 7 pounds 13 ounzes and 21.5 inches long.  A perfect little girl.  Somehow I was able to comfort my wife, my new daughter, maintain two phones calling to my mom and dad as well as my wife's mom and dad so they were able to hear her first cry.  The joy for our families was intense.
My father was lying in hospice fighting a losing battle with lung cancer but for that moment in time he was lucid and understood what was going on. He, by the grace of God, was able to hear and understand his grand daughter crying her first breaths.  It was this event in his life, coupled with my sister arriving to say good bye that enabled him to stop fighting the pain and death.  My dad passed the very next morning, 1 November at 0638 hrs.
God truly moves in miraculous ways.  He let my dad hear my daughter and say goodbye to his.
I would like to thank you all before hand as I know the prayers I will receive from the community.  I am distinctly honored to have flown with you all and am humbled by the caliber of all of you.  From my heart, Thank you all.

Tom

Congratulations on the arrival of your daughter and my sympathy on the passing of your father.  I am glad he got to hear his granddaughter and see his own daughter again before he left.

I can't imagine the combination of emotions you must be going through, the happiness that must come with your new addition, but the loss of a loved one, even when expected, well, sucks.

You have not only my prayers, but my respect. Good luck with everything, and again, congrats on the baby girl.

Thanks, Sarge.   :salute

My prayers for your father (I'm sure that you remember that my wife and I live with my Grandfather and we handled my Grandmother's hospice here, at the house)  I know, firsthand, that it is not easy in any situation.

My congratulations on your newborn  :aok  (This may become a cycle you know, if you keep taking those trips abroad and don't see your wife for months at a time)     :devil

For Pete's sake, keep your damn head down, wherever you are  :noid

Something similar happened when our youngest was born....
The wife's dad died several days later, unexpectedly..
It was tragic..  My heart goes out to you and your family.... <S>
