Ok this is more of a joke thread but here is the Idea.
In AH2 the 4000IB is the largest bomb available. This is small compared to some explosives in WW2 and I think we need eggs that can REALLY do some harm. While I know that limits have been made I still maintain that HTC could and should bring some Tallboy's and Grand Slams. While not in the immediate future somewhere down the track maybe. Now to ask for a Nuclear Device is out of the question, but hey. A big boom never hurt anyone.
So a big :pray to Hitech for the involvement of some BIIIIIIIIIIIIG fun.

YES! :aok :x
-
Only if I get the Spit 5c and the A-26. :neener:
Seriously though we need to add some more important things before we get these late war earthquake bombs.

Seriously though we need to fill some major holes in the planeset, especially the early war planeset.
We needs planes like the Ki-43, He-111, Beaufighter and the yak 3. Hurri 2b would be nice too.
Not planes GVS!
-
whoops
Kind of an off topic post wasnt it?
Same rule applies. More important things to be added besides the earthquake bombs.

*facepalm*

Currently, ordnance above 4,000 pounds cannot be added to the game. That is why the largest bomb in the game is only 4,000 pounds. Hopefully, when the ordnance packages are redone and a perk ordnance system is introduced, the bomb weight limit will also be raised to allow larger size bombs and even rockets (Tiny Tim).

WOOOOOOO! :x

First we will need the aircraft that dropped those bombs. At present they are not in the game to the best of my knowledge.
-
+1 if I can drop it on Tanks
-
Could the Tallboy be carried internally? I know the Grand Slam couldn't be.
Did he say "perk ordnance" and "when" (not "if") in the same sentence?

Screw the 5c, yes to the A-26
Not planes GVS!
Yes we need more GV's particularly a tank destroyer\\
Point is we need other things first. +100 down the line -10 right now.

Lancaster... come on now. The Tallboy I believe could be mounted in the bombbay, but the Grand Slam had an external mount.

A specially built Lancaster would be required for either bomb I believe.

-
Oh yes, let's give the allies even more ordnance so that we can all be happy.....
-
Stop with the agendas Dennie...
Ruler that was a specially modified Lancaster otherwise the doors would not close. It would be easy to model a new Lanc but it is different.

Excuse me if I prefer a simulator that represents a decent portion of both sides in a global conflict.
-
Did the germans use a 20k bomb? If not then quit whining.

I agree with Denholm.

Did the british drop these babies like 1,000 pounders from a B-17? If not then quit making assumptions I'm talking about one country.
-
Wait a minute. Denhom you mentioned only two sides! If it was axis versus allies you could only be talking about the axis. So it was a fifty/fifty shot saying German and since you deny that you must mean Japanese? So what overwhelming presence of the war isnt represented already? Lets by gawd get it pushed through!
And then lets start talking about the B-29 because it really was there in massive numbers! :neener:
-
didnt lancasters sink the Bismark's sister ship with tallboys?
-
Excuse me if I prefer a simulator that represents a decent portion of both sides in a global conflict.
Lets see now, The Ju-88 carries a stupidly large bomb load. Lets not forget Stuka's with uber bombs, 110s with enough cannon to sink a whole country, Tiger tanks and a high % of the <10ENY planes.... jet bombers, jet fighters, rocket fighters ....and thats just the Germans...
Oh yeah Den, I see what you mean now, those 230mph lancasters are dangerous i tell you! :neener:
-
didnt lancasters sink the Bismark's sister ship with tallboys?
No I think the Germans ended up scuttling her... unless someone has other evidence? I never really cared for German navy. :D
-
what can this large bombs destroy that a 1000lbs bomb cant? buffs would only be able to carry just one, I think . then drop and what kill 1/2 the base? is that the assumption?

It would be awesome for marking tanks in scenarios :bolt:

One bomb... one dead flat top... glub glub glub... huge hit percentage.

hitting a turning cv with only one bomb, would be a hard target. but I see the only advantage of having a big bomb would be to up the score :headscratch:.

didn't Lancaster's sink the Bismark's sister ship with tallboys?
Yes 617 squadron. The plane was modified no top turret so bomb could fit in. So we still don't have an aircraft to drop any of these bombs.
-
Guys, I am a little concerned at the fact that what was a light hearted "lets cheer for the big boom" post not unsimilar from the HAB post has been met with cold and deliberating points that I clearly mentioned I knew.
I just want to have a little pyro fun ya know, heck one of the programmers IS Pyro. This is A GAME. I know historical accuracy is important, but why do we have Spitfires fighting F4u's. They were in WW2 and therefore can be and should be added WHEN the ord layout is re-done.
So lay off the argument and enjoy the Idea please. Thankyou

Well lets just save the Grand slam for the new WWI arena then using the above logic? :bolt:

The Germans have the second most complete planeset in the game. The US has the only reasonably complete planeset. The British have the third most complete sets. The Russians, Japanese and Italians have nothing even resembling a complete set. The French don't even have a single plane.
Making it Axis vs Allies, particularly when you really mean "Germany vs USA, UK and USSR", is disingenuous and wrong.

Just thought I would toss this out there...
The Stuka MOAB rocks!!! :rock

I like the idea but it's like asking for the Atom bomb & getting it & then not having a B29 to drop it?
-

Germans ended up scuttling Tipitz I believe.

No, Tirpitz was first badly damaged by explosive charges dropped by Royal Navy X-Craft miniature submarines. No sooner was the damage repaired than the Fleet Air Arm inflicted more in a series of carrier-borne attacks codenamed Operation Tungsten. A raid by 28 Lancasters of 9 and 617 Squadrons RAF on 15th September 1944 (21 carrying Tallboys, 7 loaded with 500 lb 'Johnnie Walker' mines) rendered the 'the beast' unfit for open-sea operations. The bombers flew on to Yagodnik in the USSR, the range being too far for a return trip to the UK from Kaa Fjord.
Tirpitz was finally moved south to Tromso to be used as a heavy artillery battery. Now just within range of Lancasters from RAF Lossiemouth, 40 Lancasters attacked again on 29th October but the fjord was cloud-covered and all bombs missed. The final curtain dropped on 12th November when 18 Lancasters of No.617 Squadron and 13 from No.9 Squadron achieved surprise and unloaded their Tallboys out of clear skies. Several bombs hit the ship, one of her main magazines blew up and she rolled over and capsized. Bomber-leader Wing Commander Tait of 617 Squadron was awarded a third bar to his DSO for leading all three raids - the first time a RAF officer was so honoured.

How can you "enjoy the idea" that can obliterate game-play? Just off hand:
1) Damn tiger shot me, Boom! (I'm sure that it would have been considered "legitimate use of ordinance" in WW2 to drop a couple of 4k bombs on a single tank...)
2) One pass, no worries about that GV base anymore.
3) Two passes, no worries about that air base anymore. (Both of the above are sure fun for furballing and actual FIGHTING, are they not?)
Thing is, you know EXACTLY where your targets are and those targets have minimal ground support and miniscule defenses compared to what attacking forces had to deal with during the actual wars, damage out put has to be toned down for balance and game play. Plus rather than spending hours loading and flying to a target, you are there in 5 minutes greatly effecting the impact of those types of weapons.
I mean you want bigger bombs and the ground forces don't even have the AA guns that forced the bombers to attack at high altitudes in the first place. We need true AA guns first. Just think, how fun would it be to take a base if they all had a few of those 5" flak guns (or larger) about.....

Yes, I see I left out the "r" in Tirpitz

LOL. At least you've learnt something in this thread, provided you can read anything other than pro-German propaganda or 'Stars and Stripes'.

might as well let it in, it wont kill the tiger anyways since i seen multiple tigers sit through 25k+ pounds of bombs being dropped right on it and not die.

I already knew my "t" key was tripping out.

I love how people feel that the addition of a large bomb will some how suddenly decrease gameplay quality.
Isnt that kinda like the F4u-1C when it was unperked, it was over used and abused beyond belief.
Hmmm what did they do, THEY PERKED IT, I am all for perked ordnance like this.
I mean seriously, other than a few hours worth of coading (after 4k barrier is removed) what do you have to lose?
Nothing.....perk cost will keep them from being over used anyway.
Sheeezzz! Buncha whiners!

You get the same whines (game balance) whenever the P-51 (cannon pony) or B-29 is mentioned while they forget every team has the same aircraft to choose from.
