Good question.  Not a joking matter.

Oh. You noticed it was a joke?

There's funnier things than you can imagine, my friend.

TEShaw has nothing better to do than try and stir up trouble.  If you see him in game, it's all he does and begs one to wonder if all he does in sit in the tower and talk crap.  Not surprised to see his behavior is the same in the forums.

Maybe the country should have a limit, you know like buildings and busses? I am reaching mine. I heard the Germans are trying to make Scientology illegal and Scientologists rarely fly off the handle or blow up over things. Maybe those Germans have something there?

IMO the only point to this whole thing is to show that the army should not be deploying anyone to an area they are sympathetic with. Would have been like putting 2nd generation German farm boys from Minnesota & North Dakota on the  front lines against Germany. Just not a good plan.

Be in the army, yes, if that's what his choice is. Use him to help understand the language, the culture, etc. But be deployed over there knowing that he's Muslim and that he's not happy?  Sorry but someone's not to bright.

Yes there were some Americans of Japanese descent used in the Pacific, but they were all their by choice.
And I think they were watched pretty closely.

My stepmother's 2nd generation German farm boy brothers from South Texas fought the Germans in Italy and did just fine.

Uh this guy is a Major in an all VOLUNTEER ARMY. Armies usually end up in places most individuals would rather not be, doing things they'd rather not do. He knew that when he took his oath. You're making excuses for the criminal and blaming the victim.

Actually Shifty, I do not believe Ghost is making excuses, but this war is like no other the US has fought.  The US Army need to be more alert to what is going on with their Muslim-oriented soldiers.  This is not the first time a scenario like this has happened.

So the US Military has to add to it's already monumental to-do list a special needs attitude towards Muslim service members? There are so many thousands of Soldiers and Marines who have deployed multiple times. I'm willing to bet they're not happy either and would rather be home. Yet they go and do their duty time after time. I agree something should have been done. My solution is probably too simple but as soon as they balk at doing their duty put their butt in the brig for the duration of thier military commitment. Then give them a dishonorable discharge and park their butt and their luggage outside the gate with a bus ticket to the Doctor Phil show if they want to cry about it. This goes for any service member not just Muslims.

The US Military has the duty to uphold and defend the Constitution.  There is a Constitutional right to freedom of religion.  There can be no restrictions on religious beliefs in the military.  We were taught that our beliefs cannot be dictated by the military, but our actions can.

Clearly, the shooter in Fort Hood is disturbed and arguably criminally insane.

Back to the OP, serious or not, one of the first statements by one general or another was that he was worried about backlash.  Backlash would be just as bad as the original crime, maybe worse.  Justice will happen.  Give it time.

P.S. The military is so sensitive to religious freedom that it allowed for the Church of Satan to be put on dog tags.  I always wondered what prayer a chaplain would say over the body of such a soldier.

We can't jump to conclusions....just because he reportedly shouted "Allahu Akbar!" before he began shooting; visited websites associated with Islamist violence; wrote Internet postings justifying Muslim suicide bombings; considered U.S. forces the enemy; opposed American involvement in Iraq and Afghanistan as wars on Islam; advocated beheading nonbelievers; (In a D.C, conference in front of heap many doctors...who apparently were afraid to 'get involved') and told a neighbor shortly before the shootings that he was going "to do good work for God."  (As well as giving out Korans) Lastly... we learn he was trying to contact people associated with al Qaeda. It's still a mystery.  :bolt:
