Thanks for any info. I'm new at Disco.
-
Windows 7 is very new, there are more than likely several large bugs in the program that Windows has yet to iron out. There were many problems when vista came out as well. Not sure if this is the entire problem, but may be a contributing factor.

WOW ! that was helpful
Two things, first get Ping Plotter and ping the game servers, the address is in a post stickied by Skuzzy about connections. You may have just gotten a bad internet connection for the night. Run it for 10 minutes or so and see if you loosing a lot of packets.
The second thing is running processes. I'm not sure if Win7 is the same, but hit "cntrl, alt, and delete" to open the task manager then click on the "processes" tab at the top. The smaller the number of processes you are running the better. 30 or less should be "ok"... that being a relative term. With nothing else running on your computer the CPU usage at the bottom should be bouncing between 0-3. If its going higher something else is stealing CPU cycles and could cause the game to drop out. Another thing could be a program that might steal your connection for an update. Itunes or some other program my go looking for an update, mean while your connection to the game server is dropped.
Those are just a few things you can check.

make sure u didnt download and install both windows firewall and antivirus and also have a separate anti-virus/firewall program. with both turned on your discoes would increase. I had been discoed several times past week till i realized that windows anti-virus was on, which was funny because i had actually turned it off. but somehow during an update it turned itself on. so check every couple of days just in case.

Ace are you getting discos, or is the game crashing? Discos would be "you have lost UDP switching to yada, yada, yada. Crashes would be just dropping to your desktop, maybe even getting the "acehigh.exe has encountered an error yada, yada, yada"
The other bit of info you could check is to download ping plotter HERE (http://www.pingplotter.com/downloads/pngplt_1.exe) and install it. Once you start it in the top left box type in the address to the game servers, it's 206.16.60.39. Hit the trace button and let it run for a few minutes. One of the columns is labeled "PL%" you looking for nothing there, or very low numbers. The other thing is to look at the address your route runs thru and see if any of them say "level3". Those cause trouble a lot. Best thing to do is to print screen and post the picture here. This would be more if your discoing.
From what you posted, your CPU is good, but you are low on ram and you have a pretty old video card. The ingame setting should be on the lower settings. You may have to turn thing way down to keep the game playable. This would be more for crashing.
So more info, ping plotter, and your game settings....texture size, what eye candy you have on and so on.

It does not help that he is on Hughes satellite service.
-
Yeah i really dont know much about computers...just that im all of a sudden getting messages say lost upd sqitching to tcp the host connection lost
-
That message happens due to packet loss on the Internet connection. It will happen with any type of wireless connection far more often than with land based connections.
-
Alright were gonna call our provider ppl down the road have the same prob

I had the same problem with Norton, I still have Norton, but I switched off Windows firewall and Windows anti-virus so that Norton was the only program running, more than one anti-virus running and they will screw around with each other.
