Not certain of this as its difficult to test/reproduce...
When in a bomber with drones, and your lead bird is is going down...if you are in the process of triple tapping the 'enter' key...and your present ride explodes...
The game seems to transfer the cache of 'enter' taps to the new bird...and you in essence lose the new bird...
In other words you spawn into the next bird and hit the 'enter' tap for the last time...you lose your new ride instantly
Am I imagining this?
It happens more oft than not to me in such situations

Not sure on how long the "enter taps" last but...
To test this, you could get a buddy, tap twice, then have him shoot your lead plane down (with explosion) and then tap the third time once you switch planes. It may or may not be easily reproducible depending on the time allowed between enter taps.

Set your 'bail-out' key to CTRL+enter, that way you won't have any more of those stinkin' accidents. Your problem use to happen to me every third time I hit the enter key after typing out a message.

Really?
So you think its registering the the enter key when you finish a message as the first 'enter' tap...
Whether that is it or not...at least someone else notices something funky when trying to tap out of bird only to find that the last tap blows the new bird away...
hmmmm

Actually, it used to bail me if I hit the "/" key (to check who was on my vox list), then the "enter" key (to exit said list), then if I did it 2 more times because I was bored, I would suddenly find myself without a plane... I don't know if it still does this or not, but the CTRL-ENTER setting sounds good to me...
