Ever since I got a new machine, my text buffer won't expand. I tried mapping the key to other buttons to no avail. I sent Skuzzy a DxDiag and he was at a loss as to why this would happen. I'm pretty used to it now, but would like to get it fixed. Any suggestions?

I have never been able to find out what software is causing this problem. Rumors abound about it being some Microsoft driver causing the problem, but I cannot confirm it, or anything else as I canont duplicate the issue no matter what I try.
The key scan code is being trapped and not being sent to the game, and that is why it will no longer function. You can map the command to another key/button and it will work just fine. You just cannot use the 'tilde' key for anything in the game, except text as text.

I had the same issue with my keyboard and the tilde (its a wireless one, not sure if that mattered) I re-mapped it and all was fine

Try this...uninstall any Keyboard software that came with your computer and see if that helps.
