Title: Did Manfred von Richthofen...
Post by: Kazaa on November 14, 2009, 04:37:01 PM
have to deal with his graphics card blowing up?

This tour I wanted to see how many victories I could do without a death, I was up to 102 and 0 before my 8800GTX blew up. :(

I'm not peeved off, I was going to be replacing it very soon anyway. I just feel sorry for the person who I promised it to tough. :bolt:

That's life.

haha yeah... The flying was boring me to death. On the good side, I can still play AH2 on my ATI850XT until I get my new card(s). 30-50FPS, woot! No more MW2 though. :(

death by mechanical failure... vanished without a trace are always fun.

among my other favorites... I've had many random 1 ping puffy ack encounters when attempting the same thing... one of my more recent favorites was doing a high speed high frontal  diving deflection shot on some bombers about to explode a carrier and getting exploded by my own puffy ack which was unable to hit said bombers but did a fine job of killing me.

nice streak but the prize is to survive the whole thing... because its so bloody impossible and becomes statistically more impossible the more you play.

although I am interested to know if you also get more of an adrenalin rush after you pass 100 death free kills like i do.

Yesterday I was lining up an absolutely gorgeous shot on a P-38 and the puffy from our CV took my F4U-4's wing off. How handy.

Fester,

I'm not counting my disco as a death, according to the scoreboard I've yet to bail, ditch, be captured or has anyone claimed a victory over me in fighter mode.

No I didn't get an adrenalin rush after I passed 100 victories without a death. Any emotion to the game quickly passed after I couldn't boot my computer... I thought to myself "butter the game, I hope my computer's ok". After a little testing I found out the probelm was indeed the GFX card. TBH I was more looking forward to some DA time with Mark a.k.a SkyRock over the weekend rather than continuing my streak. I highly doubt that I would of had the patents and the will to get even close to Bruv's 250 for 0 which he set in FA anyway.

After reading Fester's description of his streak program in that other thread, pilots of JG11 have endeavored to try this out.  It is alot of fun, and adds a bit to the regular MA game play.

Disco's are a death due to mech failure for us, because that is the score criteria in AH.

It is fun, and very intense.  Our best this tour was (28).  We have one pilot still alive at (21).  All the rest of us are just...

...Dead Zombies flying.

(Sux about the vid card Kazza).

That sucks Kazaa I know how you feel.  When the swap came I bought a new laptop where I could play AH2 and I shut the laptop to hard and it broke the screen in half.  I'm being careful with it now trying to live with it as long as I can, until I have to break down and get a new screen.

Fester, why on earth you get a buzz out of kill streaks I'll never know because this isn't much fun to me at all.

I was wondering what happened.....I didn't get on much this weekend, but I went in there a few times to look for yas..
I tried to see what I could get to on the kill streak, but we count discos in the Muppets as deaths, so I can just hang it up... I got to 128 the last time I seriously took a stab at it.

eh? I don't recall the part where i said I cared if it was fun for anyone else.

and by my scoring system you died 17 times. I don't do it by just one category and cherry pick/vulch some fighter sorties then go back to attack mode for hard fights.

you know what my squaddies jokingly say after i get shot down the first time for a tour?

"see ya next month"

because sometimes i stop playing after i do get shot down.

Fester,

I wasn't aware that your score system was the "legit" one to follow, or any of the rules that came with it. I just went with what seemed like common sense at the time by trying to emulate a kill streak of a WW2 fighter pilot in believe it or not, fighter mode.

I use attack mode to 'ave it large, blow off steam after my fighter runs and believe it or not go jabo a little.

you ask what I find fun about my ways of flying after you do something that is different from my way?

the kill streak is part of it but survival is the essence of it.

its a role playing thing.

you see in my imagination on the start of that new tour I'm usually a virtual Luftwaffe ww2 pilot.

I try to survive a tour in Luftwaffe aircraft like the 109 and 190. I follow the Luftwaffe free hunt tactics.

I consider the first death capture or disco in any category regardless if it it fighter/attack/bomber/vehicle as the end of this virtual character for this tour.

when you were jumping in your random fighter mode 262,f4u4,tempest after warming up and dying a bit in attack mode it was not your objective to try to use your imagination to make the game a bit more real for yourself.

your basic tone is wow! this is so easy because I dumbed down the difficulty as much as I could and missed the whole immersion concept of the play style and I'm totally bored because im such an awsomesnotnosesqueaker.

kill yourself

I see now what you're trying to achieve, something that I was unaware of previously. However, what I'm doing has no coalition to your goal in the game so I don't understand why you're getting so upset about it. I mean seriously, "kill yourself" is a little harsh even by my standards.

Can we be friends?

I think the AH record is 350, so Bruv's FA record, while impressive, is meaningless in AH2.

:x so let me get this straight even tho ur sitting comfortably at ur computer playing a flight simulator u still need to put a fire extingusher in ur preflight check list before doing anything wOW this game is getting TOO REal

AND YAAA! WTF!! i suppose its punishment for bein a nanni ak dragger but it is pretty irritating getting shot down by ur own puffy ak before the 2 enemy 600 behind u do.

I was to 122/0 in p38, died once so I dont bother climbing to 10k anymore.  There is definately some fun to be had going for the streak.  People say flying like a sissy, but they have a K/T of less than half of me too.. hehhe  ;)
