Film Details:
Title: Defense of the Reich
Length: 8:29
Size: 112MB

What you are about to see is only a slice of the epic battles that can occur in AH scenarios.  This film shows just 2 of the 29 scenario squadrons,  and just 1 of the multiple sorties that are flown in one of the 5 Saturday of fighting.  I'd like to share this immersion with you all.  And yes, this film has been modified to meet the specifications of the Wehrmacht Republic's Ministry of Information.   ;)

Many thanks is owed to HTC, AH CMs, command personal and the pilots/gv'ers who ultimately make every second of these scenarios for what they are.    :salute
<S> Redtail7 CO of Krupp Steel
<S> Hightone CO of JG53 "Ace of Spades"
<S> Have, CO of Red Storm, also great job posing in the picture above.  :)

The final fight will take place this Saturday Nov 21, 2009, 12pm PSt/3pm EST.

What program do you use to capture film from the AH film viewer?  I have been using fraps and it is no where near that quality, nor can I get shots that aren't attached to a specific aircraft  (like a ghost through a bomber formation, furball from a distance etc...)

Not really my cup of tea. Styllistically, I mean. I'd really like to have seen more in-game action. I recall some of the videos from DGS and a couple others included a lot more AH-related action.

I guess I'm not a big fan of 5 minutes setup for 3 minutes action. I think that action looked pretty cool (esp. bombs blasting through the cloud layer), and that's pretty much what I'm seeing during frames, too!

Germany  ?  most powerful European nation in 1914  what is this BS?     :lol

The film actually starts around the 4:40 mark before this,  a bunch of senseless propaganda!

Great production though Kermit!

I must 2nd what Krusty wrote.   The said I have to add that the game footage was fantastic
and wonderfully done. After skipping the 4 and a half minute prelude I was riveted to the
action which you edited very nicely. Looking forward to seeing more!

Thanks for the great comments!

I corrected the spelling of cavalry and added the date in the film...I'll fix date on poster tomorrow.
I also understand the point that many want to see more AH footage vs real footage.  I now have some ideas on what to do to make the future films better.

This is a story of men who follow in the footsteps of generations past, by answering the of call to arms to defend Germany against the Red Storm that approaches.  These men fight with what they have, in the odds they are given.  These are AH players from all over the world and from different squadrons, who come together in scenarios to work as a team.  Each pilot all having different jobs to perform while relying on one another to accomplish their common goals.  You will see a furball with over 40 planes in the sky, fighting at over 20,000ft, in the not so great weather.  Knowledge and execution of group and individual tactics bring you and the men you fly with, closer to success. You will also see a brief story of Krupp Steel's early involvement in German warfare, along with the faces of the real men who fought in both WWI and WWII on the Eastern front.  There are many other things in it, but I'll leave it up to you for your own interpretation to remember it by.

I'm very glad you all took the time to download the film, watch it, and also have the time to comment on it.

Fraps @ www.fraps.com (http://www.fraps.com) Used to capture video/audio on screen.

Sony Vegas Pro 8.0 which can be found in many versions at different prices all over the internet.  I used it to manipulate the colors giving a softer and colorful look to the real footage as well as adding the "snow" look on the ground in the AH scenes.

Kermit, your films are terrific.

I really think you should cull some in-game footage from them and send to HTC for inclusion on "Now Playing" section of HTC's website.   Or maybe a 2-3 min trailer of Defense of the Reich and also the terrific Doolittle film would work there better.   Your work really deserves a wider audience than this forum provides.

Just a thought...

Loved the air combat, the 109's movements seemed so natural and the whole thing was beautiful. Music selection was great as well! I got rather into it, although I did get a reality jolt when I heard vocals from 300. :lol I pictured the Germans saying "THIS IS SPARTA..... err no?"
