For some reason this picture caught my eye. The terrors of war .... at peace.

That looks an awful lot like one I saw on Tinian Island there Shuff. I'll see if I can dig the pic up and get it on here.
-
I wonder if it is an A6M.

It's a zero judging by the canopy framing.

It's a Mitsubishi A6M Zero, Allied codename 'Zeke'; late-model A6M5 Type 52 by the look of it, as it has multiple exhaust pipes and the cowling louvres for the over-the-engine machine guns.

Wow, I just felt like I watched a car commercial. :D
Nice job.
-
Cool picture. Just made it my desktop background. :aok
-
is the picture recent? (a year or 2?)
-
Cool picture looks like a Zero to me.
-
Having trouble telling since the entire cowling is ripped apart. Looks like someone stripped it of the cowling guns, ammunition magazines, and the aux. tank. The wings are all pretty indistinguishable and can't tell if it has the old Type 99 Mark I short-barrel 20mm or the newer Mark II model.

Been looking at this and I just remembered where I saw it, it reminds me of the Zero found on Pagan Island.

Pagan Island, that's it, not Tinian like I thought. Hey give me a break it was over 6 years ago. If I remember I'll get you some pics of it when I get home tonight since I don't have them at work. Between there and Iwo, we saw tons of stuff that others will never get an opportunity to see.
-
I believe the text said this one was from Tinean. Lots of little sandy islands out there.

So did the poor Dutch soldiers need to pedal those things, or what? Looks like a Little Tykes version of an APC!

Looks like the weathering is all wrong on it, not enough wear and tear for a submittal for a skin.

Looking forward to seeing them. Any idea what model of A6M it is? Something about it has me saying one of the A6M5 series but for the life of me I can't really tell...
-
Looks like the zeke was left to rot, not crashed, or maybe ditched. The prop is not bent.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Universal_Carrier
With some 113,000 built in the United Kingdom and abroad, it was the most numerous armoured fighting vehicle in history.
Doesn't say anything about pedals!

A6M5 or later. It has the ejector stacks which are still identifiable despite all the other damage.

Airflyer doesn't read the earlier messages in a thread.

These Aussies are taking cover behind a Panzer III they just blew up :D
-
Fascinating picture of the Zeke. Probably destroyed by the bomb that make the crater beside it.
The last picture of of the Aussie troops behind the Panzer III is posed. I think it's part of the well known propaganda newsreel featuring the Aussies.
As for the Dutch, 'Universal Carrier' actually it's a Carden Loyd tankette which predates the Bren gun Carrier.

Here are a few of my grandfather's war pictures.
