Title: AP rounds for B-25H
Post by: sandwich on November 20, 2009, 10:34:52 PM
Been said before but I really want them.

Theres no reason why a 75mm cannon, HE or otherwise, cant kill a tank from 200 out from the rear.

That or I just suck with finding the weak spots and attacking them properly.

Probably that.

So why not just give us 6 or 7 ap shells to do our dirty work with?

I have no problem killing tanks with the 25H. Are you getting good hits?

Solid hits at 200 on the dead 6 of a tank.

Theyre alright hits. Top would be better though.

Would like to really be able to range and kill a tank, especially a wirblewind, with less than all of my rounds.

6 or 7 AP rounds would be perfect to kill tanks with. Not enough to be unbalancing while still being able to flat out kill tanks.

I have a problem when I see the HE round bounce off.

That's about how many AP rounds the 25H DID carry.

I think that is it. The B25 can kill any tank with one shot.

Nice!!!  I only usually shoot from 800 or less, but that works quite well.  And if it's a T-34, then 1,000lbs make fast work of it :D

AP rounds would be a brilliant addition to the B-25H. +1

Ditto on the T-34's! Those suckers are my nemesis when using the cannon.

It was really just a marking shot for friendly tank but had a good angle on his broadside, got that perfect area for kill.

Probably couldnt do it again to save my life tho.....normally 1k or less like you.

The reason why it's taking all of your rounds to turret a single Wirblewind is because you're not a very good shot.  The B-25H can easily turret any anti-AA GV in the game with a single shot from beyond Wirblewind gun range.  Last night in MW, I knocked out an Ostie and Wirblewind turret from D2.0+ out, only took 3 rounds.  The 75mm cannon on the B-25H is also capable of knocking out any tank in the game with a single shot with the existing HE rounds.

ack-ack

My style for gunning tanks? Get in close and then get closer. The 25H is a great bird but I dont have much time in it.I wonder is its to unweildy to get really close in with?

Im a yes for the AP rounds. Include them for the Yak-9T also, which also fired AP.

It's actually surprisingly manoeuverable for such a large plane, IMO.

Ill try it when my new rudder pedals get here. Right now all the tension is gone cause they are broke and I keep crashing planes. :( Rudders are important when gunning tanks with big cannons. :salute

Turns well enough to dogfight in.  And if they get behind you... you have 4 50's you can bring to bear on em.  As for gunning tanks, the 75mm HE does a pretty good job.  Works better on softer targets, great for taking down ords, town buildings, etc... and those pesky M3's and flackers.

And if you can line up behind a formation of buffs, you take take wings right off with it from 3K out easily.

Overshoots work like a dream as well.  If you snap roll it repeatedly from about <250mph, assuming you don't drop your nose too much you can often force your attacker in front...and then zap them  :D

AP rounds would make the B-25H so much less of a hangar queen!
