Title: For tracking shots on that enemy car ahead of you on the freeway
Post by: Brooke on November 21, 2009, 12:12:20 AM
I know that we all do this.

Driving to work on the freeway, picking out a car ahead of us, lining it up with a spot on our windshield, estimating the range for a nice tracking shot with our 50's or for landing a few cannon rounds . . .

Of course, our windshields lack the gunsight rings for estimating range of the enemy.

I did an estimate in my head, but (more precisely on paper) 60 mph = 30 yards per second.  So, you can hold pace behind your adversary and start counting when he crosses a sign or post or spot on the road -- "one Mississippi, two Mississippi", etc., until you cross the same mark -- and then figure out how many yards away he is.

This way, I can see while driving to work what a shot at 400 yards is like vs. 200 yards or whatever.

So, when driving to work, remember:  30 yards per second.

My Mazda only has twin Type 99 20 mm.  The neighbors get really bent when tuning them so I still don't have the convergence right.

Wanna see the use and expenditure of energy?

Ski down double black diamond Aspen mountain looking to shoot the skier in fronna you (the beauty part here is that you cannot add energy) ; AND, (here's the big part) watch how speed changes as you engage in the imaginary scissors.

A merc, eh?

When I was in school, I had a 1978 Mecury Marquis Brougham that I inherited from my granfather.

This was an aircraft carrier on wheels.  When I drove near naval air bases in Southern California, I had to wave off fighters trying to land on the hood.

+1

Only a single MGFF in my 911.  Would love to upgrade but I'm limited by length and I don't want to be perked...

Grand Cherokee has seven M1919's.  Twins out the back, dual top turret, one for each each side and one for the front passenger.  Not a heck of a lot of hitting power, but more then enough for a pesky Accord sitting in the left hand lane.

And I thought my Transverse-mounted Carl-Goustof on the back of my Volvo XC70 was overkill?  There's a nice option for a 200 perked XC70-R with a thermal-sighted 25mm Chain gun used in the Canuck LAV's. I only have 145 perks though.

:(

My 68 back in the day had Mickeys on it too.

N50s back
70s front

Mine was about 4 different shades of aqua blue. The money was all in drivetrain and getting it to the ground.

Note to self, stay away from the Black Dodge Ram on the Schuykill Xpressway.

Better yet, draft the Black Dodge Ram on the Surekill Xpressway, god knows on that road you need something like that   :aok

Im sure you have no problems merging on Roosevelt Blvd either   :rofl

Hehe... not anymore I dont.  The Blue Route claimed my last car, and the Schuykill the one before that.
