For the second day in a row I've logged on to see blue more populated than orange. I don't think I've ever seen this before, at least not in the last year or so, more than once or twice....
:noid

was about to ask the same thing whats up with people?
-
When I logged in yesterday I didn't care for the map in LWO too much, so I flew in LWB. Maybe a trend...
-
Terrible map, perhaps?

You're not alone...
The reason was the map that was up on LWO yesterday. You can notice that every time beta2 is up in LWO: People will simply flee from the arena. There is no other map in the current set that has such a strong effect on arena choice, the only one that comes remotely close is mesaview.

Yeah I'd buy that. Don't care for mesaview too much either. Too much in the way of climb, dive, climb, hit a tree :D

both the maps are the same though!?

They are now
But as people tend to join the arena where the the majority of players are, it will take some time to reverse the effect caused by beta2.
-
Heck, I don't fly much anymore, but the last time I was on there were over 30 furballing in the DA. What does that tell you?
-
Boy I never thought I'd see the day where I'd be begging for Uterus. But I m completely tired of seeing two large maps at once. Most of all two large water maps.
Oh they are great maps, dont get me wrong. But two at the same time?
I miss the days of going into LWB where'd there would be a small map, about 150 sticks, and the fight would be a lot better.
I feel the same about the A1 map. Remember? The big map with the running battle for A1? Where it bottlenecks? Again a fine map but two of them are to much of a good thing. Well tomorrow is TT and 500 to 600 online makes a big map better cause you can find small fights.
Thing is tonight? You have the option of two gangbangs and a whole lot of empty space.
-
I don't fly very frequently so I couldn't answer this, but how often do the large maps even get "won"? I know that the pinwheel map NEVER gets won. And as for the rest, I see them around until Tuesdays and then TT resets both the arenas.
I don't care much if the maps are won often or rarely, but it is worth asking: what would HT prefer for game dynamics? I think at least we should be getting 1-2 resets a week due to victory (seems like a good balance) but I'm not sure if that is occurring?

Having a big map in both arenas sucks big time

What Even Steven said. :D

I agree 110%, I wish we had a small map in one and a large map in the other arena. It would make finding the after hours fights a bit easier to locate as well.
At the very least, don't have the exact same map up in both arenas.

Night before last I went to log on and was like WTF?. Then thought maybe there was a map reset but still wondered why there were so few in comparison
Clicked on LW Orange, tok one look at the map and said "oh"
Promptly went to blue LOL
-
the irony of the entire thing is nobody noticed the bigger picture.......
once a week or more we get a thread from someone complaining they are locked out of orange and have to fly in blue...... and every thread is met with the same arguments..... that sheeple only want in orange to follow the crowd
the odd thing is when the crowd goes to blue and sheeple follow to blue its relegated to "the map in orange"
these are the maps that are usually in blue while orange typically has the larger maps........
it never occurrs to the thread flamers that the sheeple dont migrate to orange because of the crowd but instead because of the maps
-
Wish they would go back to the system they used to use to determin which country won the map. It does seem as if the maps are around much longer now since the arena split and the must own 90% of the other countries bases.
Last night we had in LWB and LWO, the TAGMA map. It should be that we never have the same map in each, except under certain circumstances, such as one country just won the previous map, in that arena and the next map in the rotation was the same as in the other arena.
Maybe go back to smaller maps? IDK
Just a thought.

Most maps don't have a very big influence on players choice. In that case, they tend to go wherever everybody else goes. Some are more popular, some are less, but that "selection force" is is a weaker one than population numbers. Only very few maps like beta2 will trigger such an exodus. Most maps don't make people leave orange, and most maps don't make people avoid blue.

Boring map in the Orange maybe. And sometimes, the map in Orange are the same in the Blue arena.( like today )
It would be nice if there are different map. :salute

The map with the single huge white capped mountain is one of if not THE worst map in the game. It could leave circulation and not bother me a bit.

I agree with Lusche/Snailman completely.
Why is Orange consistently more popular? Why doesn't the critical mass pass between the two LW arenas more often?
Not a big deal, but I have no theories. Does the TT map always roll into Orange?

DA is fine. Just need to stay away from the lake. It is broke since there is no dueling there. They actually have squads there :lol
-
I have found Beta2's poularity to be on the scale of say...the Bubonic Plague.
BRING OUT YOUR DEAD!

PS-Rich we all spend time begging for Uterus!!! :rofl

Nothing really. They are not fur balling. They are vulching, picking, running, and calling people names. I used to think it was sad to see that in the DA. I was wrong, it is a nice place to keep them away from everything else :lol This is probably why we dont get the doughnut map anymore.
-
I can only say the Green Stamp map is not my favorite.
-
At least Uterus always has action. As for GVs, and killing GVs, it is without doubt the best map. The problem with Uterus , back then, is we were getting it all the time. Sometimes two at a time.
The reason why its such a good GV map is the spawn placements. Many bases have numerous spawn in/outs. Pizza, on the other hand, usually only has one spawn in/out a base, if that, and it seems like the spawns are always going to your own base.

Hard to win a map when both countries with the most bases won't attack each other.

How about some new maps? :P

WOW, is been like 5 minutes and no one told you to go make one yourself?

"The map with the single huge white capped mountain is one of if not THE worst map in the game."
Ah yes, the one I call 'The Green Snotty Hanky'. Horrid, isn't it?

People go wherever there is more people. That's why the dynamic caps are required.

I got that part. I was just looking for a reason why it is Orange with more people almost always. If it were random, then the 'crowded' LW arena should be one or the other roughly 50% of the time.

Commonly known as Sheeple.

Orange is first LW arena on the list and more important: It's the TT arena. When TT is over, it's just renamed and Blue is opened. But the people are still in Orange, thus having the "numbers" advantage. To get the masses migrate to another LW arena you need a really horrid map.
Besides cap, you can rank the player's arena choice reasons like this:
- planeset
- numbers
- map
Planeset being only a marginally bigger incentive than numbers, that's why it took some time after the original arena split for people to leave EW (most populated arena back then!) and go to LW.
