I'll open the discussion and thread for RS/KS scenario patch proposals. Calling all talented designers, show us your ideas! :)
-
Yes, let's get some patch designs posted! :aok
-
I have an issue with this scenario...
The NAME!
What do you call it?
I think most players that participated just called it by the name that fits their side (allied: red storm, axis: krupp steel). It's awfully long to include both parts of the name.
Especially on a patch with limited space!

You could probably fit "Red Storm / Krupp Steel" on a patch -- might need to leave off the word "scenario", as the name is longer, but maybe not.
Here are examples of past patch designs and how the words fit on the patch:

I still have a patch design for Coral Sea that I was last twittleing with about a month ago, so I might try finishing that up before starting an idea for Krupp Steel.
I agree with Krusty though on this scenario's patch, a shorter/simpler name would be ideal.
-
Oops. I botched the link to other past patch designs, but corrected it above.
-
From the previous patch designs the Rangoon '42 is the best in my opinion.
The scenario name is highlighted a bit compared to the other text. The P-40 shape is very well made, large enough to be seen from distance, the contrast of colors is good and the red background is clear without any clutter. That is perhaps a perfect scenario patch! :aok
The Fire Over Malta is almost as good, but the black silhouette cannot compare to the nice P-40 in the Rangoon patch.
-
if it has a beheaded frog on it i'll take one ! :aok
-
OK, who is going to put up a patch design?
-
Rangoon '42...The Fire Over Malta...
....the contrast of colors is good and the red background is clear without any clutter.
The common nominator with those 2 patches is the background. They are both made on a ready-made background of that color, whereas in others the background color is sown on the patch. It depends pretty much on the patch maker how the want to do the background. Sometimes they sow it sometimes not.
It might be helpful to know what colors they have available for them backgrounds without sewing ;)

No one has a patch design?
-
I did not play in this one, so I cannot really relate to its events or spirit, but here is a quick idea for starters.... to get it going.

I don't like the iron cross being infront of the red star as if it is imposing upon it. :D
-
Well, you can imagine that the red star is stabbing it from behind ;)

:rofl :aok

I thought you said you didn't play in this one.... :bolt: :devil

I honestly really like the sample you set here. It's growing on me rapidly. Shades of Gray.... Bleak...like the weather.....without showing any strength or weakness.....maybe changing the lettering colors for "Red Storm" to the same Red as the Star and maybe even make the Krupp Steel White like the Axis Iron Cross depicted.... just saying

I like it!
Thanks, BlauK!

Anyone object to me going foward with this design? Looks great to me.

The perimeter font wont handle well at its current setting for the patch makers...
The inner circle would need to shrink in so that the font size on the outer band could be increased/handled....
Of course the patch makers can do that....but what does it do to the balance and design?
You know they are going to do that...in an attempt to preserve the nuance of the font chosen....

if the star doesn't lay over the cross...then the compromise is that they are interlaced...at the least the lower part of the cross leg that imposes on the star should be tucked under....

-
The russians whipped tail...sticking the star behind the cross seems to be a slap in the face to the commies..

I didn't fly in it but I like the changes that were made here in oneway's post with the interaction between the star and cross symbol.
-
I already submitted the one based on the original.
The reason is that, while folks recognize a star if it is behind the cross, they might not understand the cross if it is behind the star. It was an executive decision (and also because I wanted to get it going so that we have them before the next scenario starts).
I also submitted the Coral Sea patch, so I hope to have that one as well before next scenario starts.
We do need some donations into the patch fund, though, if folks are willing.
-
Glad to hear Patches got going, looking forward to it. :)
I'm going to see if we have any spare money to help with any patches to be done/to come, but money is tight as usual.
:salute

To whom would I send the paypal transfer?

To brookep2 "at" electraforge.com (the e-mail used for the Paypal account).
Many thanks! :aok

How much?
-
I want one that looks awesome how much does it cost?
-
How much?
It's a voluntary donation system, so whatever amount you wish -- it's all appreciated.
-

How much you got? :)
Actually, it's a donation of any amount you can send. You do not need to send anything to receive one, however it would be appreciated. I usually send to help every patch production...as I can right now. Brooke never makes anyone give...you still get a patch if you want one no matter what.

:rofl Didnt see the post..obviously.

is $20 cool, It was my first scenario and I dont know how this stuff works?

It's whatever you feel like donating. $20 is very generous.

Brooke used to have a website page about the current financial situation of the patch fund, a kind of general gauge of how close or far the funds are from being able to cover the next patch run. I'm not sure the current rates, and costs do vary from patch design to patch design, but I think it's a little more than a dollar per patch produced including postage for shipping (to deliver that patch).
I'd like to thank those who donate to the fund, as I'm one of the more financially strapped blokes who really appreciates getting a patch for these scenarios and not having to dig through my couch to make it happen.

That patches are in. Details are here:
