Title: saitek x52
Post by: cattb on November 25, 2009, 05:49:53 PM
is there a way to change my primary hat switch in AH, there is 3 8 way but AH only recognizes 1 as a 8 way the other 2 are 4 way . The 1 hat swtch is not working properly anymore.I want to change my primary hat switch.(theres the ssd software but i have never used it)
next question has anyone here ever replace a hat switch on a siatek ( if they have is hard?, can it be done?), i look for parts and dont see anyplace to get them except maby the maufacturer.

have you installed the most recent drivers from saitek support?

no.
I could.
But that I don't think will matter as far as AH stick set up, as it does not recognize my other 2 hat switches as 8 way.
In my control panel in game controllers, properties all three hat switches are 8 way.
Somehow if I could get AH to recognize the fact that I do have 3 8 way hat switches, or switch hat switches. i suppose no way to do it

The only way is to install the Saitek profiler programing software. Then assign your buttons through the profiler. You will then have to run the Saitek software along with the game.

What do you mean primary hat switch?
All you have to do is program each of the inputs.

Aces High has great stick mapping already, you don't need the drivers/software.

I have an X52 and Aces High recognizes all three of the hat switches. Can you explain your problem more?

Thanks Bustr, I recently emailed someone who uses a x52 they told me essentialy the same thing.
I am going to explore that option and also I am thinking of taking it apart and switching the buttons..or inside parts. The two hat switch components on the inside should be the same.I will have to look into this.
other option is look for replacement on ebay or broken one I can switch out parts or part.
I look on the net can't find anyone that sells parts, don't see parts for sale on saitek site either.I suppose I could email them.
Thanks for the reply <S>

Motherland, AH only supports 1 of the 3 hat switches as a 8 way.At least for me. So I call that my primary hat switch, its the one I use the most. AH supports the other 2 hat switches as 4 way or at least for me.
My 8 way switch does not work proper anymore.
All 3 hat switches in my control panel are 8 way but not with AH.
Does AH support all 3 hat switches as 8 way for you?

I use two hats for view, those being the ones on the stick. The lower one automatically reads an 8-way and the one above it reads as a 4-way(and the one on the throttle). Even though it reads it as a 4-way it still allows me to have the diagonal directions work properly.

As per default, for me at least, when I plugged the stick in, the lower hat switch was directional views and the upper one moved up down side side. They both worked fine as 8 way hat switches, that said I didn't screw with the mapping (I also didn't have the drivers installed, though). The one on the throttle is not mapped in any way that the inbetween spots would be used (just random functions), however when I go 'inbetween' (not up down left right) accidentally it sometimes doesn't seem to do anything do anything which leads me to believe that AH recognizes that there's positions there (recognizes it as an 8 way hat)

I am going to try the upper hat switch on twisty stick with directionals and un map the lower 8 way.Won't have time till later this week.
I like using 1 8 way and 1 button for up view, this seems to work best for me and my SA, been trying 2 buttons and the broken hat switch, it works but not efficiently for me.( i am losing site in a fight at times..lose sight lose fight..)..The hat switch on the throttle i use for flaps, this way for me anyway i can keep SA,check 6,multitude of other things fairly fast.
Thanks for the replies and I'll see if i can fix this situation later this week.
