Title: The Nike Pro Combat Uniforms....WHY?

While I was hoping the Florida Gators wouldn't switch over to the new nike pro combat uniforms, but I turn on the UF vs FSU game and I see those ugly things.

Why is Nike even producing these ugly things?  Sure the rest of the uniform is pretty good looking but the jerseys just are not and can pretty much say for the other college jerseys.  Im just not a fan of them.

One last thought...while they are not nike, why the redesigned helmets.  Ugly change.

Well they will still win the national championship so I guess that is all that matters.   :rock

The helmets are a tribute to the teams of the 60's. That's why they aren't as modern-looking as their usual helmets.

The uniforms are due to Nike's long-time sponsorship of the team.  They weren't as bad as FSU's all-garnet uniform a few weeks ago, or the ones Miami (Fla) wears every weekend.

Retro helmets and modern uniforms just don't go together...  If they're gonna do a throwback helmet design, the rest of the uniform ought to be styled to match.  Surely they can use the modern uniform design, but still use a throwback color scheme?

Or for something truly hideous, how bout Cuse's old pink and blue Saltine Warriors?   :(  Culturally insensitive or not, at least Orange is a bit more appealing to the eye.    :aok

Its just another evolution in the weight saving of a uniform; don't worry I really don't think the majority of teams are going to steer away from the tried and true styles that they have been wearing. Heck Oregon is known for their ugly butt uniforms and you may not like them but you are talking about them. I personally like the one I have seen them wearing lately with the flat finish on the helmets in the darker green almost black look. That is a sharp helmet.

Not much challenges the Vericose Pumpkins of the Cincinnati Bengals, though. The jersey/pants combination is literally painful to look at...

The Flat Black Oregon Duck uniform looks great, in person and on TV, however some of there other combinations are somewhat to be desired, how the uniform selection works at Oregon is a different athletic department picks the color scheme for another athletic department, I think the Track&Field got the football team this year and the fooball team will have the track&field team when they suit up ( lol that will be fun to watch lol), it keeps it fun to watch that's for sure, and if I'm not mistaken Nike donates the uniforms to Oregon, i think Phil Knights an Alumni.

Civil War is this weekend winner gets the Roses... GO DUCKS !!!
