As recent as yesterday. Well, we decided to put the Do-335 on the market, beacause not to long I am going to be gone for boot camp (August), and when I leave, he is not going to fly it, so he decided that he is going to let it go. Anyways, We got a mesage from a guy in York, South Carolina, asking us if we would like to trade. I'm not sure if this is an actual skin, but I'm not complaining, if you look in the picture, the wing is just about touching the top of my room and I can't fit the whole wing in the picture.
So I went from this:

To this:

Very nice model.
-
I believe its Erich Hartmanns 109G14 during his stint with JG53. Could be wrong though. I usually fly this skin when I fly the G14.
-
wow, that's sweet Bosco. Waaaaaay better looking than the 335.
I'm jealous.

That is just cool! I haven't gotten past my lowly Goldberg Eagle 2 Trainer. :D

That's a good trainer. Back in my days as Club Instructor, the Eagle 2 was the kit that I always recommended folks wanting to get into the hobby go with. I've taught a lot of folks to fly R/C on Eagle 2s.
Now days I don't do much training, simply don't have as much time anymore, but when someone asks I usually recommend the Sig Kadet LT40 as a good choice for a first kit.
As for the Eagle (or any trainer) being lowly, consider this... I've been flying R/C since about 1986, and I still keep a trainer in my stable of planes, simply because it is so easy to fly and virtually impossible to lose control of. Flying the trainer is stress free, whereas sometimes it is a little stressful to take one of the scratch built planes that I have poured so much time effort and energy into to the field. It's nice to have a plane to fly that is a little more low key.
Something else I would suggest is fun, once you are a little more advanced then trainers... Buy a wing kit for your Eagle 2, build the wing with no dihedral. Then stiffen up the front end of your fuselage and drop a bigger engine into it. You'd be amazed by what fun you can have with a trainer hopped up with a flat wing and silly amounts of thrust!

Beautiful work. Keeps the Pics coming. :aok

jeeze!!
that looks to dwarf the 38 i'm lookin at.
it's in ohio.....the dude has a hangar 9 b-25 too. he's willing to let em both go for about 1k. only thing is he built em and never flew em.

Trainers also make great camera platforms for First Person View R/C flying! Right now I just have a fixed forward camera on my rig, but I plan to add the headtracking VR headset at some point, with pan and tilt for the camera. Not a priority project right now though, since I need to finish my '38, and I now have a mold from a friend for an all composite Turbine SR-71. He spent a lot of time making the mold, then lost his vision to diabetes, so couldn't finisht he project nor fly it, so he gave me the mold on the promise that I will finish and fly her. The SR71 will be approx 127 inches in length. Should be... interesting....been a while since I scratch built anything. Gotta lay the fiberglass and carbon fiber up on the mold to get her started...

I was more curious if it's an actual skin of Erich Hartmann's.
More pictures to come, I have to put the Spekturm in it and a couple of batteries before I fly it, hopefully in two weeks lol. The guy did a magnificent job on it I must say.

It's only a Model, but a good trade I should think. Your Do-335 was nice too, a fair trade.

Nice 38, looks like it may be a yellow kit. I am in the process of finishing one now (got it built finally woot!)
I had the opportunity to fly a fellow clumbmember's yellow 38 the other day, VERY nice flying bird, although I am getting much more detailled on mine than he did, thus it will be heavier, it should still fly great.
I would highly recommend the yellow 38 to anyone interested in that bird.

Or if you like to build, go with a Ziroli. Ziroli's all fly like a dream, we have built about 75% of his airplanes and every one of them fly great. Just they are all scratch kit.
This one is a Meister, 101'' wing, with a ZDZ Super 80 in it. Looks like there are digital servos in it, colors are custom made from latex.

it's not yellow. the guy said it's an aerotech kit. i couldn't find em on the web though.
if i had the time n money, i'd go either with zirolli or yellow and build my own......but i don[t have enough time and money right now to build my own......

Sexxxy! That is seriously awesome.
Have you flown it yet?
Yes, by the way, it's painted in Hartmann's colors from when he was with JG 53.
-
Only took like 10 minutes :o
-
ok Thanks Bubi, I was wondering about that. It has flown, but I have not flown it. Plan for it in about two weeks, hopefully I have a video and some good photos of it.

HeHe take before and after pics, the god of flight could strike you down lol

Wow -- cool.
I don't know much about radio-control planes. Those are huge -- what engine is used in those big planes?
-
3 of mine are 80cc, I have one with a 62cc in it, and another with a 45cc engine. typical size for a gas engine is between 45cc-70cc. Big ones are 80cc all the way up to like 250cc.

Interesting. Are they single-cynlinder or multi-cylinder? Are they 2-stroke or 4?

rght now, the biggest i have are my pony....with a 1.5 4 stroke, and an icepoint(pattern ship) with a 1.2(i think) 2 stroke.

My largest is a Hangar9 46% Ultimate Biplane w/ a DA-180 180cc 4 cylidner engine on her. Has a 100 inch wingspan
(http://photos.bravenet.com/389/645/485/136CEFD072.jpg)
My most techincally advanced is a yellow aircraft F/A-18E w/ twin jetcat P-80 turbine engines. This bird is approx 8-8ish feet long, weighs 42 lbs.
Got about 20 other various airplanes and helis as well.. I will post photos of my 38 when it is finished.

ya..this isn't a hobby...it's an addiction. :devil

There is Radials, but those cost in excess of 3 or 4 Gs. Most engines are either single or twin.

Yeah it is, or at least close. He was transfered out of JG52 into I./JG53 as Gruppen leader for a time. He flew that plane and there are a couple pictures of him in it.

I would take that 109 and use it as a hug pillow :x
-
Well, I flew the airplane, and the video dosn't show the flight, but it looked really pretty in the air. The airplane was not all that fast, but we found out that the throw on the servo arm, was only going 75% to full so, we hopefull will get more out of it.
Most of it is explained in the video, if you have any questions, just ask me :)
It flew!

And I was proud of my 2 B-400's and my Ch-47, and my Buzz Buggy. I also have couple of CX-2's that are fully moded, But WOW/ :bolt:
-
Sol, is that a dent in your F-18 just below the canopy?
-
When I first saw the pic he took, I was wondering the same thing, if the stresses were causing it to dent in (this pass was at a good 220mph). So we took the plane and he took several more photos, and it appears it is just a shadow or some camera bug of some sort... the "dent" never showed up in any other photos.

<wishes he had a carpenter's talent>
nice models in this thread. to the OP: you win either way, but i really like that Do-335. it's rare & a real head-turner!
O well...you can always build another one. :airplane:

sssaaaaaaaaaWEEEET!
glad to see minimal damage on the belly landing. the take-off looked a little hairy, but it was the first flight.
there's only one thing bad i'd say about that........go look at a pic. of sol's finger. you shoulda known better than to prop that thing bare handed dude.
cap is jealous. :aok
