Title: Best Films of scissors/rolling scissors?
Post by: Gabriel on November 30, 2009, 08:26:32 AM
Doesn't really matter what game,,, AH preferable of course because of the great Film viewer.

Specifically,  what I'm looking for is good cockpit views. I've seen diagrams and videos of planes rolling around quite often.  I guess I just want to know what I should be seeing in a 'successful' scissors.

If you could post a few of your favorites I would be in your debt.  :salute

Here's an example of rolling scissors between two AH top duellers:

I was checking those too, but think they're mostly non-cockpit views.  I'll post a few soon.

Here are a few films.  I didn't just edit them down to the scissors, because it's kind of important to see how they develop, or fail to develop in a fight.  Keep in mind that effective scissors don't generally last all that long.

Here's a good one with me a Batfink.

Right around 5:00 is where the scisors begin.

see....this is one thing i wish they could/would add. if i recall correctly, in AW3, when you filmed something, you could see the control inputs used. this would be uber helpful in films like this.

what were these guys doing with their throttles? flaps? how was that lead spit bringing his aircraft around so sharply at such a close range? that particular move is how i generally lose to spits, and 109's......

use your lift-line to determine lead/lag status in the rolling scissor.

if your centerline is 'ahead' of the bandit you are closing with him.

if your centerline is 'behind' the bandit you are moving to a rear position on him.

work the centerline just like you would your nose in a circle or 'normal' fight.

Here are a few more.  Two where I initiate it, one where my opponent initiates it.

When I initiate it I generally start with a Barrel Roll, and only take it further if my opponent "agrees" to join me.  In the P38 fight, you can see that initially, I even aborted my first barrel roll because he wasn't biting hard enough yet.  He then gets serious and joins in the rolling scissors.

That isnt an effective move in Aces High honestly, it leaves you with no E even if it does work and he can rope you pretty easy and just BNZ you after that.

This is a fight I had with kazWRF G14 vs KI-61, I hope it helps
