Title: How I would better the ground warfare experience.
Post by: Kazaa on December 03, 2009, 09:46:07 AM
IMHO the ground warfare in Aces High 2 requires way to much work for a single player to do. To make it much more enjoyable and functionable, I propose the following:

1: Allow the use of throttle and gears while inside the gunner's/commander's position and the ability to turn using rudder peds/twisty stick. This way we can look/fire and scoot around at the same time without having to keep switching into different seats every 10 seconds.

2: Allow the drivers view to be show while in the gunner's position via another window.

I feel that combining the above would make the ground game much more dynamic.

Small example of what I'm picturing. Good or bad idea?

meh...I'm not much of a gv'er but... :headscratch: aside from gear shifting and throttle control it's already possible to tool around pretty easily from the gunners position. I suppose making the changes you're wanting couldn't hurt...but as a point, it would take away some of the challenge of maintaining vehicle control. What about when you have 2 people in a tank? What position does the controls default to with the changes you're wanting?

Good idea Kazaa, but one thing.

If your Spawn Camping, what if there is a tank down in the bottom right corner of your screen. People will start whining about not seeing him because of 'This stupid new idea of HTs'.

Of course people will whine no matter what, just putting a point out.

Part from that, +1

Maybe just the port hole view from inside the tank, would that be better? As long as you can see where you're going is the main thing and would make the idea less gamey.

Maybe if it was toggleable. Is that a word lol? Able to be brought up and made to vanish when you want. So if your driving, maybe hit, I dunno, Ctrl Alt V and it brings it up, but if your at a standstill, press it again, and it goes away.

Am I making any sense here? lol

So...based on that idea...would having similar options available in a bomber also be less "gamey"? You have a vehicle/plane with multiple positions and each position is independent of the others...think about it, apply the same ideology to a bomber and you would have people maneuvering a bomber from the tail gunner position...sorry man but, after thinking about it for a while, your ideas would make it gamey.

You do know that we have the ability to work the throttle, flaps and turn the bomber while in the gunner turrets... right?

you can turn a gv with the rudder from gunners position already, I didn't find it for 6 months but when I did I  thought now this is cool why didn't anyone tell me.

Kazaa, I know what you are talking about from FS2004 and FSX, they allowed small boxes for overlapped views.

Which bomber Kaz? I've tried the throttle and flaps but full maneuvers from a gunners spot in a bomber using the stick?...haven't been able to do it.

Full manoeuvrability  no, but you can at least yaw "turn".

you use the rudders to turn while in gunners position.

Back to the OP, I like the idea, even the window as long as it can be turned on and off.  There are times that would be very nice, others it would be in the way.

I don't like this idea, there would be no reason to enter the driver position anymore.

Clone, I don't think you'd have the instrument panel in the turret, nor do I think you could control the driver's views from there.

Put the window in the top of the screen, I think that would make it great. And yes, make it toggleable. :aok

Great Idea... but to implement is a huge taxation on resources.  I'm pretty sure if HTC sees this, he'd say a similar thing, but its the same reason we can't have mirrors on the P-51 or other aircraft... it requires rendering two separate viewpoints, and that means essentially half the frame rate.

Hi chaps!

My choice would be to allow throttle, gears and direction control from the turret and the sight (this is really gamey). I also add a super-zoom binoculars view possible from that position. I believe these changes might improve the GV experience.

Cheers,
