Looks like the moon to me (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/tongue.gif)

My guess this picture was taken during the record flight between Egypt and Australia. This was a non-stop flight and so this picture could have been snapped almost anywhere along thqat route- most likely in the mountains by the look of it!

The Wellesley was operational until 1941 or so. If I remember right, this shot was taken in the area of Ethiopia where the RAF was flying missions against the Italians.

Hi Andy (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
While these planes were operational until 1941 the roles they held were very limited- this makes it easier to identify the picture.
The only ones in service during the war were flying long range recon patrols except the ones in Ethipia used against the Italians there. If this was one of those planes the slipper long range tanks shown under the wings would have been removed to increase the airspeed of the plane.
My guess (as it is) stands that this was one of the planes that made the record flight to Australia. If it is not then it was one of the recon planes used to patrol the med until they were retired.

Wellesley,it is (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
The above photo is from 1940,the hood of the rear cockpit is swung open and the gun is ready for action, the containers housed the bombs.
The Wellesley could carry 8 250lb bombs or 4 500lb bombs in those containers.
