Hmmm, an offline version of Aces High for the iPhone/iTouch/iPwnbecauseIcanafford$100AT&Tphonebills? Sounds intriguing. Where would HTC get the manpower to do so? Would they license the rights to the Aces High name to an independent studio? Also, why make an Aces High for the iPhouch when you can make it for a system with a larger audience, such as the Game Boy Color, Gamecube, or the PSP? Sure there would be motion controls, but motion controls do not make the game. Need I point to 100+ Family Fun Games for the Wii? Or, forgive me, the Power Glove? Besides, do you think HTC would actually WANT Apple to muck around and to tell HTC how Apple feels Aces High should be?

put a wiimote in your mouth and flap around like a chicken :D

Nope

I think it would be a cool, probably effective advertisement for the game if there were a simple WWII flight game by the name for the iPhone/iPod touch.
-
I like this idea. Sure, it probably wouldn't be nearly as detailed as the full game, but if it can be done for X-Plane, I'm sure HTC can as well.
I can't imagine that the Main Arenas would be made accessible from this, but Aces High on iPhone would add nice opportunities for the 'Offline Missions' AI and for some form of H2H arenas.
-
Here are the pros and cons as I see them:
Pros
Perhaps a more advanced offline mission editor could be used. With the touch screen creating an easier interface.
Perhaps the iPhone could be used as a multi-purpose mic.
Multi-purpose meaning that you could talk through it, and look at tips at the same time (great for learning).
Cons
The possibility of getting HiTech Creations being pushed around (and possibly given a bad name it doesn't do as it's told)
The effects of the mucking by apple
A buy and burn scenario, where we lose both HTC's freedom, and HTC itself in a slurry of bad changes and upsizing
These are the pros and cons of fulfilling this wish, look at them carefully, and make an informed descion.

Make a what with the who in the where?
A massive combat flight sim on a phone?
Uh, why?
-
Make a what with the who in the where?
A massive combat flight sim on a phone?
Uh, why?
Because it would be fun?
That's like asking why we play Aces High: 'A massive combat flight sim on a computer? Uh, why?'
The answer to those questions is the same.
EDIT: And Motherland hit the nail on the head with that post ;)
-
You missed my point, why would you want to play a massive flight combat sim on a teeny tiny iPhone screen? Not to mention how on earth you would be able to effectively control your flight envelope, views, throttle, etc...
But if you're talking about a scaled down version to play while away from home just to keep you anxious to get back and play the real thing, I see no reason why this should not exist.

The second thing is precisely what I'm thinking :aok

If anything it would be a demo with 5 or 6 "missions" designed much like Xplane.

My apologies then, I'll butt out now. :)

Hmm... $100 phone bills? My sister has an iPhone and only pays $40 a month, would also only be $70 a month if she decided to add an unlimited data plan... I also have a friend with a Blackberry who pays $120 a month through Verizon... Perhaps you should do some research before you go and stereotype people for owning a device and/or using a service.
Also, you do realize that Apple has no say in what goes into the apps that are made for their devices (except perhaps vulgar things prolly couldn't go on their marketplace)? They put out a public SDK for their devices for the purpose of creating applications them.
That said, I don't own one of these devices, and I do agree that Aces High for the iPhone is pointless.

That's only for jailbroken iPhones.
Apple is actually quite the software-nazi when it comes to approving apps for the app store. It's their app store. They approve what they want.

Do I hear the first "Yes +1" coming along?..........I dont think so, NO.

Enlighten us as to how a simulator and all its gameplay complexities, be possibly rendered to something of such lilliputian scale!
Im quite serious (well partly anyway), care to explain how? I find it quite difficult to fathom in all honesty

If you ever thought this game should ever be put on an iPhone.. you're just...
what's the word?

When the iPhone/iPod gets a full size monitor option, a full size keyboard option, a USB interface for a joystick, an multi-core Intel-compatible CPU, 2GB of RAM, 200MB hard drive, a proper sound card, and the Windows OS, we could consider it.
-
uh...skuzzy...wouldn't that be a PC :D

My research is as follows:
Iphone + AT&T = suckage
Perhaps it's just the AT&T, but we will never know until Apple lets another provider have it, will we?
However, I've received/made calls while riding on the "A" train in the NYC subway with my Verizon service.
Not going to happen with an Iturd........
I'll pay a little more for the better service.

No moss growing on you, eh 5PointOh? :)

I could say that I'd be much more apt to purchase an Apple product if they relaxed their prices AND their sphincters......
