Title: SNOW...........
Post by: Shuffler on December 04, 2009, 09:52:05 AM
Deer Park just east of Houston. It is snowing pretty heavy.

Please increase your carbon footprint. Save us........................

Last year I had 6 inches in my yard. Extremely rare down here.

For those that do not know..... Deer Park is where the San Jacinto Monument is...... where we defeated Gen. Santa Anna.

I think perhaps i'll put some lights on my camaro, and register it as antique(no nj inspection that way), and drive it for a bit.

 think a 820 hp 540 with an 1100cfm carb and 4.86 gears will help? :devil :angel:

LOL shuf,good to see ya getting some of the white stuff,we had our first 3 weeks ago and they're calling for up to 15 inches over the next 2 days.

 Lastnite it was so cold we had to bring the lead dog into the igloo to help warm the place up.

 When it gets real cold,a 3 dog nite,we're real glad we still use dogsled up here in the Great White North....... :devil

Now see what sense does this make.  Shuffler's down near Houston getting snow, and us fine people in VA have yet to see any.  It's ok, we're supposed to get it tonight or tomorrow night hopefully.  This will be the first year that Max, our Siberian Husky has seen snow, I can't wait for that.

I know your joking, but that's the ridiculous thing about some global warming advocates

Warmer = Global Warming
Cooler   = Global Warming
More snow = Global Warming
Less snow  = Global Warming
More hurricanes = Global Warming
Less hurricanes = Global Warming
More tornadoes = Global Warming
Less tornadoes  = Global Warming
Flooding = Global Warming
Drought = Global Warming
Species dying out  = Global Warming
Species proliferating  = Global Warming

Sigh.....
I miss the good old days before global warming, when weather was blamed on El Nino

We got about a half inch between 1am and daylight this morning and by 10am 99% of it was gone. Still a cold and windy day down here with highs in the upper 30's with humidity and all that bringing it down into the upper 20's for us who go outside a lot on deer hunting days...I didn't get to go today though but this morning would have been AWESOME being in the woods with deer looking around through the little bit of snow on the ground.

I'm glad Kansas City hasn't gotten any snow yet. People up here drive stupid in the snow, and our school district feels that six inches of snow on the roads at 6 in the morning is not nearly enough snow to warrant canceling school. In fact, if a giant meteor was on a collision course with Earth, we would still have school. Besides, the snow we get is the loose powdery stuff. Bad for sledding, snowballs, snowmen, and igloos. Only thing it is good for is hot cocoa inside.  :furious

Just to put the bit- ching in perspective.... we're all on water-restrictions and running out of water down here.

It's not pretty.

Summer is just starting in this part of the world, too.

Spare a thought for those who truly are experiencing the warmer side of 'global warming'.

It may well not be 'hot' for 'ya'll' over there... but it's hot and dry as a bone down here.

Very Nice Shuffler , I use a Flow waterjet 60,000 PSI . But we also have a Trumpf 3180 Press Brake . I went to Conn to go to the classes there , Trumpf has nice people working there. With 6 Kw you could thaw some things for sure .

                    Nutte :salute

Yes I stayed in Farmington a couple of times visiting Trumpf.

Oh god don't tell me they are trying that again.  Wasn't there a problem with the system catching fire after it was fired on the first tests?

Its 6am Saturday and im watching the weather. I think your snow blower will be justified. Southern Jersey thru the Poconos in PA  is going to get slammed. Some are comparing it to the 1996 storm. They are calling for a foot to 20"

I put the plow on the truck last night, and while doing so, lost a very important cotter pin. Needless to say after about 30 minutes of panic, a couple..........well alot , of 4 letter words and a thrown wrench or two, i realized i put it in my pocket. I proudly accept the dumbazz award!!

Well, off to change the oil in the 4 wheelers and fire up the snowmobiles  :x

Wifee gonna be baking Xmas cookies and making homemade fudge all day.  I dont think it gets any better than this!!!

Safe travels everyone.

We're going to get hit late Saturday night.  Not looking forward to working tonight.  Any type of precipitation brings out the crazies.

yep. 8.30 right now, and it's kinda weird. in my neighborhood, only 8 miles from my shop, there's only an inch or 2 so far. at the shop, i'm seeing from four to six in the parking lot.
 visibility is less than 1/4 mile on the freeway, and pretty much everywhere. there's been salt trucks out, but i've yet to see a single govt. agency with a plow touching blacktop.

 wasn't the 96 storm somewhere around 3 feet?

i did that once or twice when i used to plow. after a couple of times, i got into the habit of always mounting the plow at the mere mention of snow. no panic hooking it up through bleary eyes in the little hours of the morning that way.
careful out there.

One storm in my hometown a year and a half ago. Almost all this snow fell in a matter of days. And it happens at least once a year.

just heard on b101......ours is supposed to continue into tomorrow.

funny thing.....we aren't grinding to a halt, although i did have a guy in front of me on the way here that was afraid to go over 10mph. i think this makes him as dangerous as the guys that think they can do 50 mph in this stuff. mostly because driving THAT slow means he's afraid, and has 0 confidence....and will be guaranteed to be making a mistake
